I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 93

Sienna didn't plan on going back to her apartment tonight.

So, while the family was curled up on the couch watching an evening show, Jorrod called.

George was currently talking a mile a minute, sharing his opinions on whatever was happening on the screen.

It rang once, and Sienna hung up.

When it rang again, George stopped talking and looked at his daughter. "My precious girl is so thoughtful, giving me background music while I talk. You should take notes, honey."

Lillian glared at him.

Sienna knew that if she didn't answer, Jorrod would probably keep calling. Avoiding it was useless; it was better to just be direct.

She took her phone out to the balcony, letting the evening breeze hit her face.

"What do you want?"

The man on the other end sounded tentative. "When are you... coming home?"

"I'm not."

Panic immediately seized his voice.

"Darling..."

"It's my dad's birthday. I'm staying here to celebrate with him."

Sienna heard him let out what sounded like a sigh of relief. His tone lightened as he told her to wish her dad a happy birthday.

Listening to him, the words of the middle-aged man from that afternoon echoed in her ears.

[That Vaughn kid doesn't mess around.]

[Thousands of workers lost their jobs. With that kind of power, it just takes one word.]

Sienna let out a bitter laugh.

She had been so stupid, swept up by his handsome face and the obedient way he acted when he was sick. She kept feeling sorry for him, somehow forgetting how utterly vile he was when they first met.

Because the man who threw her designs away and threatened to sue her was the real Jorrod Vaughn.

The real Jorrod wouldn't get teary-eyed over a single sentence from her.

He didn't care about her in the slightest; she was just an insignificant ant to him.

With a simple flick of his finger.

She would turn to ash.

"Jorrod."

The sudden interruption made Jorrod's heart skip a beat. He fell silent for a couple of seconds before offering a soft, "Yeah?"
