I Ran From My Psycho Step-brother Straight Into The Alpha's Lap novel Chapter 129

**When Night Grows Softer Hope Returns To Lead Us by Asa Rowan Finn**
**Chapter 129**

Talya pressed her foot down harder on the accelerator, her knuckles whitening around the steering wheel. She fought to maintain a sense of calm, taking deep, measured breaths to steady her racing heart. A fleeting glance in the rearview mirror confirmed what she dreaded—the gap between her and the pursuers was closing. If she could just maintain this lead, perhaps she would be able to escape the nightmare that had consumed her. The voices of the guys in the backseat filtered through her consciousness, a mix of heated arguments and frantic strategizing, but she pushed their words aside, focusing instead on the road ahead.

Each passing minute felt like an eternity, stretching out painfully as her muscles tensed from the strain of gripping the wheel so tightly. She risked another look in the mirror, her stomach sinking as she realized the distance she had fought so hard to create was nearly gone. With a surge of adrenaline, she pressed down on the gas pedal once more, her mind racing with the question of whether she could keep the vehicle under control. The guys continued to shout, their voices rising and falling like the tide, but she couldn’t afford to pay attention to their turmoil.

“Talya, you’re doing great,” Kyle’s voice broke through the chaos, a beacon of encouragement amidst the storm. “Stay calm; this is almost over.” Just as the last syllable escaped his lips, a jolt from behind sent her heart into her throat. The impact came so swiftly that she couldn’t even muster a scream. Instinctively, she jerked the wheel back into alignment and pressed the accelerator harder, urgency flooding her veins.

“They hit me again! How close are they?” she cried out, a sense of desperation creeping into her voice as she yearned for this torment to end.

“Talya, we’re almost there!” Liam’s voice crackled through the speaker, the tension palpable. She could sense the urgency in his tone, adding to her mounting anxiety.

“Max, take the next exit!” Kyle commanded, his voice sharp and authoritative. “Talya, you’re almost there. Keep pushing! Guys, you’re going to make it first!”

Liam’s boss started barking out orders, and Talya concentrated fiercely on maintaining control of the car. “Okay, Talya, the next exit is yours. Slow down just enough to take the ramp, but not so much that they catch up to you. When you come off the ramp, veer right,” he instructed, each word a lifeline.

Talya nodded, her throat too tight with fear to respond verbally. “Talya,” Liam continued, “Once you take the ramp, you’ll drive a little ways and then turn right. There’s a big red barn—you can’t miss it. After you make the turn, you’ll see us. Just keep driving; once you pass us, we’ll close them off. Remember: right and right, and whatever you do, don’t stop. Just keep going.” She nodded again, desperately trying to commit every detail to memory.
