**When Night Grows Softer Hope Returns To Lead Us by Asa Rowan Finn**
**Chapter 136**

A deep furrow formed on Talya’s brow as she pondered the wolf’s words. “Did I conjure this up in my mind?” she questioned, her voice tinged with uncertainty.

The wolf, with his piercing gaze, replied, “No, this is a genuine experience; however, it exists solely within the confines of your imagination.” His answer, while truthful, did little to clarify the swirling confusion in her mind.

“I adore coming here,” Talya exclaimed, her voice brightening slightly. “It’s so soothing and revitalizing.” The serene atmosphere of the dream world enveloped her like a soft blanket, offering a momentary escape from reality.

“It is indeed tranquil,” the wolf replied, though his tone shifted, carrying an undercurrent of foreboding. “But I must caution you, Talya. This peace will not last forever.”

Her curiosity piqued, Talya pressed, “Why not? What do you mean?”

“Because the shadows of your world extend even into this sanctuary. It was never meant to be this way, yet darkness has a way of tainting all that was once pure, transforming it into something unrecognizable,” the wolf explained, his voice resonating with an ancient wisdom.

Talya’s heart raced as she processed his words. “Are you suggesting that this place could one day become a source of my nightmares?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, the weight of his implications heavy in the air.

The wolf paused, taking a moment to gather his thoughts before responding. “Yes, it will,” he finally admitted, his tone grave. “But remember, Talya, no matter how overwhelming the darkness may seem, I am always but a call away. I will hear your cries; I will sense your distress. Even when you feel I am the farthest away, know that I am right beside you. You may not see me, nor even feel my presence at times, but it is in those very moments that I am closest to you.”

Talya absorbed his words, a shiver of trepidation coursing through her. The wolf’s ominous tone unsettled her. “Why can’t it just remain peaceful forever?” she asked, her voice laced with confusion, unsure if she was referring to this dream realm or the harsh realities of her life. She felt adrift, caught between both worlds.

“Because, just as light exists, so too does darkness. There will always be a struggle between good and evil, between brightness and shadow. The only way to dispel the darkness is for goodness to rise and conquer malevolence. This has been the eternal conflict since the dawn of time,” the wolf elaborated, his voice echoing with the weight of ages. “The battle has already commenced. There will be sorrow and loss. In the end, good will prevail, but there will always be a price to pay. Come, my child. I wish to show you something.”

Talya felt a mix of apprehension and curiosity as she stood, moving closer to the wolf. He began to walk, and she fell into step beside him. They traversed toward the edge of her dream world, a place she had always believed marked the boundary of her imagination. As they moved forward, it felt as though they were wading through thick fog, the air growing dense and stifling. Talya struggled to breathe, disoriented and unsure of their direction. Just as despair threatened to overwhelm her, the mist parted, revealing a scene that took her breath away.

They stood beside a road, the surroundings so vivid and lifelike that Talya could hear the distant roar of cars zooming past. “Is this real?” she asked, her voice tinged with disbelief as she turned to the wolf.
