The room exploded into absolute chaos.

The moment the words ‘poison’ and ‘my mate’ left Damian’s lips, the atmosphere inside the dining hall turned deadly.

The heavy smell of crushed Nightshade Root drifted up from the spilled wine, confirming the metallic scent.

Alpha Magnus stood up so violently his chair tipped over, crashing onto the hardwood floor. His weathered face was twisted in absolute fury as his ancient Alpha aura flared alongside Damian’s, doubling the suffocating pressure in the room.

“Lydia!” Alpha Magnus roared, his voice shaking the crystal chandelier above us. “Is this true?!”

Lydia fell out of her chair, dropping to her knees on the floor in sheer terror, her hands clutching her head as the combined pressure of two dominant Alphas crushed her to the ground. “No! No! I didn’t! It was a mistake! The servants must have mixed up the bottles!”

“Liars!” Damian growled, his voice no longer human. The bones in his hands cracked faintly as his wolf pushed against the surface, his eyes glowing a violent, supernatural Phina.

He took a single, lethal step toward Lydia. “You and your daughter thought you could numb her wolf and humiliate her again!”

Selene let out a terrified shriek, scrambling backward on her hands and knees until her back hit the sideboard. “It wasn’t my idea! It was Mom’s! She said if Flourish lost control tonight, Harold would realize she was unstable and Damian would reject her!”

“Selene, shut up!” Lydia screamed, her face pale as death.

Beside them, Harold looked completely stunned, his eyes wide as he looked from the spilled wine to my stepmother. “You… you tried to drug her?”

“Harold, listen to me-” Lydia whimpered.

“Shut your mouth!” Harold yelled, his own wolf thrashing in shame and anger. For all his arrogance and bad choices, even Harold looked horrified by the cowardly attack. “You tried to drug a female of this pack?!”

Damian moved faster than human eyes could follow. In a blur of movement, he crossed the room, grabbing Lydia by the collar of her dress and lifting her several inches off the floor with

one arm.

The sheer, lethal intent radiating from him was so thick that I could barely breathe.

“Damian, stop!” I called out, jumping up from my chair and running to his side.

He didn’t drop her, but his glowing Phina eyes flicked to me, filled with a wild, protective fury. “She tried to harm you, Flourish. In our culture, an attack on a Luna is an act of war.”

“I know,” I said, reaching out to lay my hand gently on his arm. The warmth of my skin touched his tensed muscle, and I felt the wild, thrumming rage of his wolf hesitate. “I know, Damian. But killing her here will only stain your hands with their filth. Let the pack law handle them. Let everyone see them for the pathetic cowards they are.”

Damian stared at me for three agonizing seconds, his wolf warring between the urge to tear Lydia apart and the need to obey my gentle request.

Finally, with a dark snarl, he threw Lydia back onto the floor like a sack of trash.

“Grandfather,” Damian said, his voice cold enough to freeze blood. “Take them.”

Magnus stepped forward, his expression cold and unyielding. “Guards!”

Four heavy-set pack guards burst into the dining hall, their weapons drawn.

“Strip Lydia and Selene of their pack status immediately,” Magnus commanded, his voice ringing with absolute authority. “Lock them in the lower holding cells until the full council meets tomorrow morning. They will face trial for treason and attempted poisoning of an Alpha’s claimed mate.”

“No! Please! Ragnar, help us!” Lydia sobbed hysterically as the guards dragged her and a screaming Selene out of the dining room. Ragnar stood frozen, his head bowed in utter shame, unable to utter a single word in their defense.

Once the doors slammed shut behind the guards, a heavy, exhausted silence fell over the ruined dining hall.

Harold stood near the broken glass, looking broken and hollow. He looked up at me, his eyes filled with a desperate, pathetic regret. “Flourish… I didn’t know. I swear to god I had no idea they were planning this.”

I looked at Harold, feeling nothing but a profound sense of pity for the man I had once wasted six years loving.

“It doesn’t matter if you knew, Harold,” I said softly, my hand comfortably resting inside

Damian’s large palm. “It changes nothing. You let these people into your life, and you brought this toxicity onto yourself. Stay away from me. Stay away from Damian. We are done.”
