Chapter 212 The Truth Aboit Rowan
Lady Flourish POV
M
My father’s face changed the moment the warrior mentioned Rowan, and I could not remember the last time I had seen Alpha Garret look genuinely afraid.
The sight unsettled me more than the attack itself, because Garret had always been the strongest presence in my life, the one person I believed could face any enemy without hesitation.
“Father,” I said slowly, “what does he mean?”
Garret did not answer.

His eyes stayed fixed on the bloodstained cloth in Damian’s hand, his shoulders locked rigid. Around us, the Stonehedge warriors waited in complete silence while the scent of blood and fear spread through the hall.
Damian stepped toward him.
“Alpha Garret, I asked you a question.”
Garret finally looked up. “This isn’t the place.”
My stomach tightened.
“You told me the same thing when I asked about my mother’s death.”
His expression hardened.
“And you told me the same thing when I asked why Rowan was killed.”
Garret’s jaw clenched.
“Flourish, enough.”
“No.”
The word came out firmer than I expected.
I stepped away from Damian and faced my father directly. “Someone kidnapped me tonight.
Someone attacked F-Tech. And now our eastern border has been hit by people who know my scent and know Rowan’s old unit.”

My hands had started trembling, so I curled them into fists.

“Then someone tells us you know exactly why they came, and you want me to stay quiet?”
Garret’s eyes flickered.
That was enough for me.
Damian moved to my side, his body tense, his wolf pressing hard against his control. I felt the shift in him without even needing to look.
“Take Flourish upstairs,” Alpha Magnus ordered one of the female warriors.
“No.”
Damian answered immediately.
Magnus looked at him.
“She’s my wife.”
The words sent another wave of shock through the room, even though he had already announced it minutes earlier.
His hand closed firmly around mine.
“Where she goes, I go.”
I looked at him.
There was no hesitation in his face, and the certainty in his voice loosened something in my chest despite the fear still sitting heavy there.
Alpha Magnus studied us both, then nodded.
“Then she stays with you.”
He turned toward Garret.
“But you’re coming with me.”
Garret’s expression darkened. “Magnus.”
“Now.”
The command carried the full weight of Alpha Magnus’s authority, and every Stonehedge wolf
in the room felt it land.

Garret could have challenged him as an equal Alpha, but doing so here, in the middle of an attack, would only expose more than he wanted anyone to see.
Garret followed him out.
I watched him go, my thoughts refusing to settle.
Damian squeezed my hand.
“Don’t go chasing answers while you’re scared.”
I looked at him. “I’m not scared.”
His eyebrow lifted.
I sighed. “Fine. I am.”
His expression softened.
“But I’m more angry than scared.”
“I know.”
“Do you?”
He nodded. “Your scent changed the second you looked at Garret.”
I blinked. “Were you watching me that closely?”
“Always.”
The quiet answer caught me off guard, and for several seconds neither of us said anything.
Then a howl tore through the night.
Several more followed, and every warrior in the hall reached for a weapon at once.
Damian’s eyes darkened.
“They’re moving again.”
He let go of my hand. “Stay here.”
I grabbed his sleeve. “You’re going to the border.”
“Yes.”

“Then I’m coming.”
His expression hardened instantly. “No.”
“Damian.”
“You’ve already been taken once tonight.”
“And I’m also the person they keep mentioning by name.”
I held his gaze. “If they’re attacking Stonehedge because of me, hiding me somewhere won’t make them stop.”
His wolf stirred visibly under his skin, and for a moment I saw the sharp shift behind his eyes.
“I don’t want you anywhere near the fighting.”
I stepped closer. “Then don’t let me out of your sight.”
His breathing changed, and I knew I had won before he even looked away.
“Stay beside me.”
“I will.”
We left the hall with the first defense unit.
The night air was cold, and the smell of blood grew stronger the closer we came to the eastern
route.
My wolf had been restless since the attack started, and the nearer we got to the border, the more sharply she reacted.
Then I caught something familiar in the air.
I stopped walking.
Damian turned immediately. “What is it?”
I breathed in again. “Rowan.”
His expression shifted.
The scent was faint, but I knew it. I had lived with Rowan’s scent for years. There was no mistaking it.
