Lady Flourish’s POV

I spent the entire morning trying not to think about it, but unfortunately, my brain seemed determined to do the exact opposite.
Even as I sat behind my desk reviewing quarterly reports and signing approval requests, my thoughts kept drifting back to the same question.
How exactly had I gotten home?
I remembered the drinks, the bar, the fight that the other Alphas were having with each other. I remembered trying to reach my car before everything became a blur, but after that, there was nothing.
Just darkness, then sunlight, then my bed.
And the crazy part was that the more I thought about it, the more impossible it seemed.
Walter hadn’t been there, because I would have remembered calling him. The servants at my residence claimed they hadn’t seen me arrive.
According to Mira, she only discovered I was home because she found my shoes abandoned near the staircase. Nothing made sense.
I rested my chin on my hand and stared out the floor–to–ceiling windows of my office.
The obvious answer should have been Damian, except it wasn’t. Damian wasn’t the type of wolf to ignore a direct statement, and I had told him repeatedly to leave me alone.
Rudely. Very rudely.
And while the Green Devil enjoyed provoking me far more than was healthy, he had never struck me as someone who would disregard my wishes entirely.
If he said he would leave me alone, he would.
At least…I thought he would.
A sigh escaped me.
Maybe I had managed to get home on my own.
Maybe the alcohol had simply scrambled my memory. The explanation was ridiculous, but it was still better than driving myself insane.

Chapter 25 The Cost Of A Crack

Glassfang Forge was one of the best wolf–operated vehicle repair companies in the territory.
Walter nodded immediately. “Yes, Lady Flourish.”
Just then, my phone began ringing, and the caller ID displayed my accountant’s name. I answered without thinking much of it.
“Hello?”
“Lady Flourish,” he said. “Did you authorize a transfer this afternoon?”
My brows knitted together. “No, what’s the problem?”
There was a brief pause. “Well…someone just deposited a substantial amount into one of your private accounts.”
I stopped walking. “What?”
“It came through anonymously.”
My grip tightened around the phone. “How substantial?”
“Around two million, my Lady.”
I nearly dropped the device. That amount was absurd, far more than enough to replace a windshield.
Heck, even more than enough to replace the entire car. “Send me the transfer details.” I said through my haze of thoughts.
“Already done, Lady Flourish.”
The call ended, and the notification immediately appeared on my screen.
I opened it, and true to what he said, the sender’s name was blank.
There was only a remark, made up of three simple words.
“For the car. Don’t stress.”
