Chapter 271 Final Sral

Lady Flourish POV

The wall closed behind Magnus.

For several seconds, nobody moved.

I stared at the place where he had disappeared, trying to understand how someone could know so much about the tunnels beneath Stonehedge and still choose to run from the people demanding answers.

Harold was the first to speak.

“Seal the passage.”

Two guards moved toward the wall, but Rhys stopped them.

“Wait.”

He was looking at the floor.

I followed his gaze.

The ancient markings had spread farther across the chamber while we were dealing with Magnus.

Lines I hadn’t seen before now ran between the stone tiles, connecting the symbols around the council table to the central seal.

They were glowing faintly.

“I didn’t touch them,” I said.

Rhys crouched near one of the markings without putting his hand on it.

“They’re active.”

“Why?”

He looked at me.

“I don’t know.”

Elara stepped closer.

“I do.”

I turned toward her.

“What now?”

She looked around the chamber before answering.

“This was the final protective seal.”

Harold frowned.

“Final seal for what?”

“The First Alpha vault.”

The words made the room quiet again.

Elara continued, “The deeper vault beneath Stonehedge was never meant to be accessible through the ordinary tunnels. Generations ago, they built several protections around it. This chamber holds the last one.”

“And what does it protect?” I asked.

“The deepest section.”

“That doesn’t answer me.”

“I don’t know everything that’s inside.”

I stared at her.

“You always say that.”

“Because it’s true.”

Harold walked toward the markings.

“Can the Eastern Army open it?”

Elara shook her head.

“Not without the bearer.”

My eyes went to the seal.

“Me.”

“Yes.”

The answer was immediate.

My wolf had been watching the markings since they appeared. She seemed to recognize something in them that I couldn’t.

“Open it,” she whispered.

I ignored her.

Harold looked at me.

“We don’t know what you’re going to trigger.”

“We already know they’re looking for this place.”

“That doesn’t mean you have to open anything.”

“If they reach it before us, we’ll have even less control.”

Rhys checked his tablet.

“We still have movement outside.”

“How many?”

“Not enough for another full attack, but they’re holding positions around the western and northern boundaries.”

“They’re waiting,” Harold said.

“For what?” I asked.

Rhys looked at me.

“For the seal.”

That settled it.

I stepped onto the central platform.

Harold reached for my arm.

“Flourish.”

“I know what you’re going to say.”

“Then listen anyway.”

I looked at him.

“You don’t know what that thing will do.”

“No.”

“And you’re still going to activate it?”

“If it’s the only thing keeping them away from what’s beneath us, yes.”

Elara came closer.

“There may be another way.”

“Do you know it?”

She hesitated.

“No.”

“Then we don’t have time.”

I took out the small blade Rhys carried for emergency pack medical work. Harold noticed what I was doing.

“You don’t need to-‘

“I do.”

I drew the blade across my palm.

Pain shot through my hand, sharp enough to make me inhale.

Blood gathered quickly.

My wolf pushed forward.

“Do it.”

I pressed my palm against the center of the seal.

Everything changed at once.

The markings lit beneath my hand, then spread outward across the floor. The wards built into the walls responded one after another, sending a pulse through the chamber.

Rhys grabbed the edge of the table.

“Harold.”

“I see it.”

A second pulse moved through the estate.

Then another.

The lights in the council chamber went out.

For one second, there was complete darkness.

A howl sounded from somewhere outside.

Then several more answered.

The wards had come back.

I felt them through the pack bond, not as words but as a sudden tightening of the protective barrier around Stonehedge.

The weakened sections that had been failing during the attack strengthened one after another.

Rhys looked at his tablet.

“It’s working.”

Outside, the sounds of fighting started to fade. Harold moved toward the nearest window.

“The eastern boundary?”

“Secured.”

“The north?”

“Secured.”

Rhys stared at the screen.

“The western patrol just reported that the remaining attackers are retreating.”

I lowered my hand.

The bleeding had already slowed.

For the first time since the attack began, the estate was quiet.

Nobody celebrated.

Nobody moved toward the doors.

We had all learned enough tonight to know better than to assume silence meant safety.

Rhys’s tablet suddenly made a sharp sound.

He looked down.

“What?”

He didn’t answer.

“Rhys.”

His eyes moved across the screen.

“This isn’t from the security network.”

“What is it?” Harold asked.

“A system message.”

The ancient markings began to fade.

A line of text appeared on the tablet.

Rhys read it aloud.

“Final bearer verification complete.”

My stomach tightened.

He scrolled.

Another line appeared.

“First Alpha bloodline recognized.”
