Chapter 60 Trapped
Lady Flourish’s POV
I couldn’t have cared less about my father’s shares. He could have offered me the entire company, every building and office and cent attached to the Virel name, and my answer would still be no. I would not become Harold’s Luña.
“Dad, there are only four days left.” My wolf paced under my skin. “You should really think this through
Garrett sat behind his desk, calm as always, like there was no ceremony about to collapse in/four days, like I hadn’t spent weeks telling everyone it was over.
“You can still call it off now,” I said. “Wait any longer and it won’t just be me making a fool of myself that day. You’ll be standing right beside me.”
His expression didn’t move. Neither did mine. We’d already said everything there was to say, and my wolf was tired of pushing against a wall that refused to give. I picked up my bag and left.
Outside, my wolf growled in frustration. Four days. I genuinely couldn’t understand what they hoped to accomplish.
Did they think I’d wake up one morning and forget, walk into that hall, and let Harold mark me because everyone else had decided my opinion didn’t count? The thought turned my stomach.
Davina finally called that afternoon, voice thick with sleep.
“Flourish. Did we see my brother Damian at the bar yesterday?”
“You don’t remember?”
“Not really. Everything after a certain point’s blurry. I remember you picked the college guy, I picked the muscle guy, and somehow Jake showed up.”
Jake. Davina’s old almost-mate, the one whose failed ceremony was still territory gossip years later. Every time those two crossed paths it ended in raised voices and someone storming off.
“Did he do anything to you?”
“As if he could,” she said, offended.
“What about you? How’d you get home?”
My
My mind went straight to the garage, his voice, the pressure of his aura when he warned me, the way my wolf had lost her mind the moment he called me a good girl.
“I took a cab,” I lied.
“Good.” Then, brighter, “Next time I’ll take you somewhere with even more college guys.”
“No.”
“Come on.”

“Not interested.”
She gasped like I’d confessed a crime. “Your eyes were glued to that pretty boy yesterday.”
“They were not.”
“They absolutely were.” She laughed. “I know you.”
Then her voice pulled away from the receiver, and my stomach dropped before I even understood why.
“Dev. Who are you talking to?”
Don’t say it. Please don’t say it.
