Chapter 13

Because Arthur was intentionally hiding me, Julian had no idea where in the neutral zone I was living.

With no other options, he went straight to the Sterling Royal Syndicate building.

Dressed in a sharp suit and holding a massive bouquet of roses, he stood at the entrance of the building. The sun was blistering/ but the proud Alpha didn’t move an inch for over three hours.

His striking appearance and commanding aura drew the attention of the syndicate employees. They peered through the windows, whispering about what the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack was up to.

“Isn’t that Alpha Julian? What’s he doing at our syndicate? Is he here to win back his mate?”

“Don’t be ridiculous. His chosen Luna is the Thorne pureblood. This has nothing to do with us. He’s probably just here to talk territory business with His Majesty.”

“Who talks business while standing in the sun with a giant bouquet of flowers? He’s lost his mind!”

Hearing the gossip, I stood by the window with a stack of documents, silently watching Julian stand tall under the scorching sun.

Not long ago, I had started working at Arthur’s syndicate to gain more experience.

But because of the scandal with Julian, I had been maliciously targeted by the pack’s public. To avoid being recognized, I wore heavy makeup every day and always kept a mask on. No one knew who I was.

I never expected Julian to track me down here after our last encounter.

I was just about to slip out through the back door to avoid him when a commotion broke out by the window.

“What is he saying? Whose name is he calling? It sounds like… C-Chloe? Chloe who?

My eyes widened in shock.

I bolted down the stairs.

‘Chloe Bennett, I was wrong! I’m sorry! Please, can you forgive me?”

“Chloe, I was wrong! I’m sorry…”

“Julian, you’ve gone mad!”

I rushed out of the building and, sure enough, heard him shouting my name at the top of his lungs.

Seeing me appear, a flicker of joy danced in Julian’s eyes.

“Chloe, listen to me.”

Before he could say another word, I grabbed him by the arm and dragged him toward the entrance of the warehouse behind the building.

I was still wearing my mask, and I was clearly furious.

Julian, have you lost your mind?”

‘Chloe, I was wrong!”

In one swift motion, Julian pulled me into his arms, holding me so tightly it felt like he was afraid I would vanish if he let go.

How long had it been since he treated me with this kind of desperation?

To secure his power within the Blood Moon Pack, he had forced himself behind a mask, hiding every emotion and every scrap of affection. He had even allowed the elders to dictate who his Luna was, preventing us from ever being together normally.

But in the end, I had suffered nothing but humiliation and pain because of his ambition.

His heart ached for me.

“Chloe, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know you were sent to the Pack Dungeon. It was those damn Enforcers. They didn’t recognize you and thought you were a rogue thief. I was so buried in pack management that I didn’t check the reports in time.”

“And the bullying in the holding cells… the elders were the ones who ordered that. I didn’t know. But don’t worry-I’ve already dealt with those

bastards who laid a hand on you. I’ve made them pay.”

A familiar sincerity flickered in Julian’s eyes.

My heart tightened.

But as long as he was standing in front of me, I could only think of that bone-deep, agonizing nightmare.

How could a few sentences of explanation make me forgive him?

I took a deep breath and forced myself out of his embrace, my expression cold and distant.

Julian, what’s the point of saying all this now? I’ve endured years of misery for you. I’m done.”

“I used to think that as long as we were fated mates and you treated me well, I could handle anything. I was willing to suffer any hardship and ignore any insult for your sake.”

“I believed in the bond. But in the end, it was all just a calculation to you. You just wanted to use me as a sacrifice for your throne!”

Julian shook his head helplessly.

“Chloe, I never treated you as a mere tool. I had my reasons for everything these past years. I know I wronged you, and I was wrong, but I never planned to abandon you.”

“Just wait a little longer. We can’

I cut him off with a bitter laugh, my voice rising.

“Enough!”

“Wait a little longer’… I’ve heard that for five years. Five years, Julian! And in the end, you were still going to announce Serena as your Luna and cast me aside like a piece of trash.”

“I’m not waiting for you anymore.”

“From now on, we’re enemies.”
