Chapter 165
Lucian sat opposite me.
After I sat down, he glanced at me.
My first thought was of Ragnar; I gave him a cold look. Lucian’s face darkened.

After breakfast, I greeted Calista and stood. Lucian also stood, interrupting Calista from arranging transport for me.
“I’ll drive you.”
“No need.” I had a reason for taking Ragnar’s car.
I excluded Lucian; Calista gestured to Beckett to continue arranging a car.
“Grandma, you don’t need to. Mr. Blackthorneis picking me up.”
I swallowed back the title “Ragnar.” Lucian’s face darkened at my affectionate term.
Calista, however, reacted differently; she smiled contentedly.
“Go quickly and tell Ragnar it’s getting late. Grandma won’t invite him in if he doesn’t come soon, so he has time for dinner.”
“Okay.” I quickly left, preventing Lucian from stopping me. He watched me go, his gaze solemn.
Ragnar saw me approaching and got out of the car, opening the door for me.
“You didn’t need to pick me up.”
He was so considerate.
“The act needs to be convincing; don’t have any psychological burden.” He chuckled.
I felt relieved.
“Ragnar, can you take me to yesterday’s restaurant? I left my bag there.”
His eyes twinkled.”Last night, I retrieved it for you. It’s in the back seat.”
I saw it and took it out, my phone dead.
He charged it for me.
“Thank you.”
He looked at me helplessly.
“We are mates-to-be, you don’t have to be so polite. All I want is just something casual.”
My ears burned.
I’d never been in a relationship.
I’d always been focused on Lucian.
Others hadn’t mattered.
Then came my relationship with Lucian and Ayla.
There had only been physical intimacy.
“Okay.”
The car started.
Remembering the news, I said, “I saw David’s news today. Thank you.”
