I Regret Being Alpha’s Secret Mate novel Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Hearing the word Rejection, Julian finally looked up, his eyes landing coldly on my face.

I turned my head, trying to hide my humiliation and my battered state.

Julian put down his document, his dark brows furrowing as his voice turned cold and hard.

“Again? Didn’t I tell you not to show your face when the elders are roaming the square?”

His eyes held a hint of reproach, without a single trace of concern for me.

My heart went completely cold.

Looking at the high—and—mighty Alpha Julian now, I felt a sense of strangeness.

Was this really the same Julian who used to sit on the edge of the rogue lands with me, sharing a piece of hunted meat and refusing to take the biggest bite?

I spoke numbly. “Julian, I said I want a Rejection! I want to sever the bond.”

Julian looked out the window, his expression unreadable, but the way he slammed his folder shut was loud.

“Chloe, you’re tired. Go back to your room and get some rest. Stop being so willful.”

My hands were covered in dried blood. He started to reach out to comfort me but sighed and pulled back instead. He was disgusted by me. How humiliating.

“Wash up and you’ll feel better. Be a good mate.”

I had compromised over and over again. I was exhausted.

My fingers instinctively gripped the car door handle.

“Julian, you’ve changed. You’re nothing like the man you used to be. I don’t even know what you want anymore…”

This struck a nerve.

Anger instantly flared in his eyes as he whipped his head around to glare at me.

“Changed, changed, changed. You say that every single day. Who do you think I took those hundred silver lashes for? Do you really want to go back to living like a stray in the rogue lands?”

“Chloe, look around. Everything you have, I gave to you. You’re just suffering a bit of a grievance for a while, and you already can’t handle it? How do you expect to be the Luna of this pack?”

“Then I don’t want to be your Luna anymore!” I screamed, my voice raw with despair.

But Julian didn’t hear the pain; he only saw my defiance.

He slammed the car door and got out.

After I got out of the car, I saw Serena standing on the steps of the grand Pack House. Julian froze for a second, his gaze instantly softening.

“What are you doing out here? It’s freezing!”

“Did you and Chloe have a fight? Is it because of the pack assembly today?” Serena asked.
