I Regret Being Alpha’s Secret Mate novel Chapter 3

Chapter3

I waited until the first light of dawn.

I had spent the entire night shivering in the snow, but I never saw Serena leave Alpha’s House.

Helpless and numb, I wrapped my arms around my frozen body and walked away.

I was stubborn. I refused to go back for the clothes I had stripped off and left in the snow. Instead, I found a few discarded items in a pack donation bin near the border and pulled them on.

I found a cheap motel in the neutral zone, a place that didn’t ask questions.

But when I handed the innkeeper my Pack ID, the machine flashed red.

The innkeeper gave me a pitying look. “Sorry, little wolf. Your Alpha cut you off. Your pack credits are useless here.”

My heart sank. Julian had frozen my identity. He was trying to corner me, forcing me to crawl back to beg for his mercy.

I dug into the bottom of my bag and pulled out a faded human debit card.

Julian and I had saved this money together years ago.

We worked dangerous jobs in human towns back when we were just homeless rogues.

We promised it would be our future mating fund.

To the powerful Alpha Julian he was now, this $10,000 in human money was garbage. But to me, it was my last hope that the boy I loved was still alive inside that cold Alpha.

Now, I had no choice but to shatter that illusion.

“Do you take human currency?” I asked, my voice barely a whisper.

The innkeeper nodded.

I paid for the room, walked into the cramped, dark space, and curled up on the hard bed.

Wrapped in my own arms, I fell into a heavy sleep.

For the next several days, Julian didn’t reach out to me once.

Instead, my phone was flooded with updates of his life with Serena on the pack’s network.

He was with her at the training grounds, his hands over hers as he taught her how to hold a blade. He was at the elders’ banquets, leading her through a grand dance.

It was as if I never existed.

My disappearance had finally paved the way for the perfect Alpha pair. Everyone was satisfied.

Then, as I scrolled down my feed, a headline hit me like a physical blow.
