Chapter 192

Through the thin gown, I felt the sharp edges of my bones pressing against his skin

I was shivering, my body thin and weak.

Lucian held me, his hand brushing against my lips, which were blue with cold. My wolf whimpered, its frailness mirroring my own

He tore open his coat, ignoring my protests and wrapped me in its warmth.

My wolf pressed against his, seeking the comfort of his nearness.

His face was grim, his voice a harsh roar.

“Are you insane? Do you have any idea what you’re doing? What kind of weather is this? Jumping into the water? Do you think your body is indestructible?”

The irony was thick, heavy with unspoken concern. He didn’t understand the depth of my despair, the agonizing emptiness that gnawed at me.

He didn’t understand how much Aurora meant to me.

My wolf whimpered, hurt by his words and his misunderstandings.

“Lucian, it’s my business, none of yours. Let go of me!”

My voice was weak, but my determination remained strong. I had to find Aurora, to recover her necklace.

My wolf snapped at the cage of my human form, desperate to be free and hunt down anyone that interfered with my goals.

The warmth of his coat was nothing compared to the icy dread in my heart. My struggles intensified.

“Lucian, I told you to let go!”

My wolf bared its teeth, ready to fight against him.

His anger flared. His large hand clamped around my wrist, dragging me towards the Pack’s infirmary.

“Back to the infirmary.

Stop this madness.”

I resisted, kicking and biting.

My wolf snarled, its aggression directed at his attempt to stop me. The quiet of the night was shattered by our struggle.

Whispers and curious glances from other patients and their families punctuated the air.

His expression darkened.

He gritted his teeth.”Seren, will you ever stop? All this fuss over a piece of junk…”

“Lucian, shut up!”

My voice cracked, fueled by anger and frustration. My wolf let out a pained whine.

“Don’t you dare insult that necklace again! It wasn’t worthless. It was…” The words caught in my throat. My wolf’s energy was running low; this emotional turmoil was draining it.

The image of Aurora’s lifeless form flashed before my eyes.

The world tilted, then swam in a dizzying blur.

I stumbled, my legs giving way.

I almost fell, my wolf whimpering at the sudden weakness overwhelming my body.

Lucian’s face registered alarm. He lifted me effortlessly into his arms. I tried to struggle, but it was futile.

“Seren, I don’t care about the necklace. It’s not important,” he said, his voice low and intense. His words, while seemingly dismissive, were also a recognition of my turmoil.
