Chapter 202
Lucian spoke and rose to greet Liam, then linked arms with him and they walked out together This was it- his new life with Ayla
He felt a pang of something he couldn’t quite name, a flicker of unease that had nothing to do with Ayla
They were officially together.
Tonight, Ayla intended to secure him completely.
And Lucian, despite a lingering unease, didn’t resist. His wolf was eager for the physical connection, the possessive instinct overwhelming and other feeling.
Thinking about tonight, Ayla secretly looked forward to it, her anticipation bordering on frantic.
The car sped along.
Ayla glanced at Lucian; was he truly eager, impatient for tonight?
His outward calmness didn’t match the predatory gleam in his eyes; his wolf was indeed eager.
Lucian quickly drove Ayla to the Mooncrest Manor.
The car stopped outside the gate.
The lock was released.
Ayla, lost in her thoughts, hadn’t noticed they hadn’t driven inside.
As the car stopped, the lock disengaged, and she eagerly opened the door.
The moment the door closed, she saw the car start again.
“Lucian…”
Ayla hesitated, instinctively taking a step forward.
The window rolled down, and Lucian said,
‘I had something else to do, so I didn’t go in to accompany Willow and let her sleep early.”
Without waiting for Ayla to respond, he turned the wheel and drove away.
Where did he need to leave so late? Her wolf sensed a deception, a dangerous game being played.
The Silvermane family’s driver took me to the Ravenswood Apartments.
He stopped below my building.
“Thank you.”
I got out and thanked him.
“Ms. Silvermane, you’re welcome.”
The driver’s respectful tone felt jarringly formal.
I wanted to correct him, but decided against it.
“Drive safe,” I advised, and he departed.
I turned to go upstairs.
The neighborhood lights were dim. I didn’t notice anything until a highly aggressive gaze pierced the darkness, settling on me.
I recognized Lucian’s gaze instantly.
My wolf felt a surge of adrenaline, a primal warning.
Looking past, I saw a Rolls-Royce Ghost parked under a tree a few steps away.

I ignored him, pretending not to see, walking along the edge of the road
