Chapter 242
I wanted to see Aurora!”
Lucian’s cold gaze fixed on me. He didn’t bother with pleasantries.
His impatience was clear in his tone; it demanded, didn’t ask.
My wolf snarled, her hackles rising at his arrogance.
When I heard Lucian’s imperative tone, demanding to see Aurora, a coldness flickered in my eyes. I laughed coldly. “Lucian, what right do you have to see Aurora?”
The words were sharp, laced with venom.
My wolf howled silently in agreement; “he doesn’t deserve it”
He’d blindly favored and protected the one who’d hurt me.
Lucian thought I was accusing him of neglecting and misunderstanding Aurora.
He suppressed his displeasure at my tone, trying to calm down.
“I’ve watched the home security footage. I apologized for blaming Aurora. She didn’t push Willow. I was wrong about that.”
He mentioned Aurora’s first meeting with Willow.
The memory flooded back. I remembered that day.
From a distance, I saw Aurora standing alone by the pool, silently crying. Those once-bright eyes of hers were filled with tears, gazing at the villa, her head tilted slightly.
Her little face was red from crying, her small mouth pouting. She looked so pitiful.
She’d have stood there so long. Her body swayed, barely able to stand.
All because of Lucian’s words:”Stand here and think about what you’ve done wrong.”
She did what her father told her, silently enduring the punishment. She didn’t understand why her father didn’t believe her, why she was punished for something she didn’t do.
Then I saw her.
Aurora couldn’t hold back, and she cried out, “Mom!” The sound was full of grievance. My heart shattered. My wolf howled with anguish
In a frenzy, I rushed to her, embracing her. Seeing the abnormal flush on her face, I touched her forehead. She had a high fever.
