Chapter 258
Lucian watched as 1, losing control of my emotions, struggled intensely.
Dr. Hale was given a look. He had worked for the Ironfang Pack for many years and, seeing the situation before him, he understood Lucian’s expression.
He came here with his medical kit. Quickly opening it, he took out a sedative from inside and walked over briskly.
Lucian, in collaboration with Dr. Hale, restrained me and inserted a syringe into my body, swiftly pushing the liquid inside. My wolf struggled against the drug, its rage barely contained.
My struggling movements gradually came to a halt. My vision went black, my body went limp, and I fell into Lucian’s arms. The knife slipped from my hand.
Before closing my eyes, I looked at Lucian with a gaze full of hatred. My wolf snarled its last protest.
Lucian held me in his arms with a complex gaze. His wolf was torn, confused, and overwhelmed. From the moment he found out about the misunderstanding with me, he told me more than once that he would make it up to me and Aurora.
I never believed him and was unwilling to have a proper conversation with him every time. We would always end up quarreling with each other and parting ways.
My wolf remembered the sting of his betrayal, the years of hurt and neglect.
He would always get annoyed by me, but he never really took it to heart. He knew that the past five years were a result of his negligence, and I was unwilling to believe his verbal promises.
He no longer said anything and directly had Fenris Asher make arrangements. If I had waited one more day, I would have known that he wasn’t just talking. He sincerely wanted to make amends for Aurora’s death.
Why was I so extreme? His wolf echoed my question, and felt confused. He should have been angry, but seeing my pale face leaning against him, he couldn’t be indifferent.
He, who was about to hand me over to Dr. Hale, swiftly picked me up in his arms before his body could react faster than his mind. His wolf acted on instinct; protecting me was paramount.
“Lucian…”
Ayla noticed that Lucian’s attention was all on me. She suppressed her jealousy and weakly called out to Lucian. Her superficial injuries were much more severe than mine.
Lucian looked at her, but contrary to what she expected, he didn’t hand me over to Dr. Hale. Instead, he instructed Dr. Hale, “Take good care of Ayla. Lucian’s wolf felt a fierce protectiveness for me, a profound shift in his priorities.
Dr. Hale had been with the Silvermane family for many years, and Lucian trusted him.
