Chapter 259
Before I could chase after him, Dr. Hale blocked my way and said, ‘Ayla Garcia, Mr. Silvermane asked me to take good care of you Your wound needs to be bandaged.”
His voice was gentle, with a hint of detachment.
Ayla was stopped and annoyed. Just as her anger was about to erupt, she quickly realized and suppressed it. She hadn’t yet secured her position within the Silvermane family.
As for the people around Lucian, even if she was dissatisfied with or disliked them in her heart, she couldn’t show it.
It was now a critical period for her; she couldn’t let them have the opportunity to speak ill of her in front of Lucian.
Even though Lucian wouldn’t believe them, it would still somewhat affect the image of her in his heart.
“Thank you, Dr. Hale.”
Ayla had already heard the sound of the engine outside. Lucian had already left by car.
It was useless for her to catch up. Her wolf whined, frustrated.
She forced a strained smile, and after saying that, she sat down on the sofa.
After Lucian left Grimclaw Manor, he first took me to the Pack’s infirmary.
After a careful examination, it was confirmed that I had no other injuries except for the back of my hand, and then he felt relieved.
Afterwards, they took me back home. He carried me to the bathroom. This was not the first time he was in the bathroom with me, but it was the first time he cleaned me.
I was asleep. Lucian bathed me without me noticing.
Until I was cleaned up, Lucian carried me out of the bathroom and put on pajamas for me.
He tucked me in, then turned around and walked into the bathroom. He rushed to wash off the heat that he had gotten from helping me take a
bath.
Lucian finally turned off the water when the desire inside him subsided and calm was restored. He grabbed a towel and wrapped it around himself.
Lucian also knew that he would not have cared about my feelings before. He wanted, and he rarely considered my thoughts. He would ask directly. And now…
Lucian was not unaware of what was changing, but he did not delve into it. His wolf was uncertain, fearful of admitting the depth of its feelings.
He opened the bathroom door and walked out. Picking up the phone from one side, he called Dr. Hale and inquired about Ayla’s condition.
After making sure that she was fine, he hung up the phone. He put his phone aside, walked to the edge of the bed, lifted the blanket, and lay down.
His arms locked around me like steel bands, crushing me against his chest.
I could feel it in the way his muscles slowly uncoiled, in the steadying rhythm of his heartbeat against my back.
“Mine,” he rasped, his voice thick with possession. His nose buried in the crook of my neck, inhaling deeply as if to sear my scent into his lungs.
