I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 282

"I spent a fortune recruiting Dr. Clara Rhodes from Westmont Medical a few years ago. She's five years older than you and has an incredible gift for gastrointestinal surgery. I specifically placed you two together because I know you've been working on a paper in that field. If you run into any roadblocks, ask her. She can help you."

"Understood," Sienna nodded, then paused. "Mr. Hayes, the designer bag you had delivered yesterday was far too expensive. I left it with the security desk. I'll have them bring it up to you later."

Silas studied her face.

"What? Not your style?"

Sienna was brutally honest.

"I don't know the first thing about luxury brands. I just know it costs a fortune, and I can't accept it."

Silas flexed his fingers, his eyes dropping for a moment as he processed her words.

"If you don't like that one, we can find another. Women love bags."

He glanced at his watch.

"Tell you what. Later today, I'll have Caspar take you to the boutiques. Pick out whatever catches your eye. Get a few."

"Mr. Hayes." Sienna lifted her chin, mustering her courage. "Our relationship is strictly professional. It's not appropriate for you to be showering me with gifts like this."

A heavy silence fell over the office.

Silas just looked at her.

She had a radiant complexion, and her features possessed an understated elegance that only grew more striking the longer he looked at her.

The sunlight caught the edge of her shoulder. She sat there, poised and resilient, radiating an effortless magnetism with every subtle movement.

Silas finally looked away and gave a slow nod.

"Alright. We'll take our time." His tone remained perfectly even. "Attraction between a man and a woman should be natural, not forced. But if we never interact, how are you supposed to get to know me?"

Sienna didn't answer, but she had to admit he had a point.

"There's a gastrointestinal surgery seminar the day after tomorrow," he said, flipping open an elegant invitation on his desk. "You're coming with me. Consider it a learning experience."

Sienna leaned in to look.

It was hosted by the Metropolis Center for Disease Control, an exclusive event meant for hospital directors and department heads.

It was the kind of room she had absolutely no business being in.

But it was an unparalleled networking and learning opportunity that could single-handedly save her paper.

"Alright."

She picked up the invitation, her eyes skimming the guest list.

The third name down caught her attention immediately.
