I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 449

In the driver's seat, Terrence nervously glanced at Finn through the rearview mirror.

It was the first time he had ever seen his boss this furious. Finn's handsome face was clouded with raw anger, looking genuinely terrifying.

Before Maeve could respond, Finn kept going.

"Ms. Thorne, I respect you as a senior in the industry, and I appreciate everything you've done to help me. But if you continue trying to drive a wedge between my girlfriend and me, don't blame me for abandoning pleasantries."

Maeve's expression darkened.

She stared at Finn, the words trapped in her throat, afraid to push him any further.

After a heavy silence, she spoke softly.

"Can't you tell right from wrong? Exactly how did Yolanda raise you?"

Finn's fists clenched.

Hearing Yolanda's name coming from Maeve's mouth felt like a needle plunging into an open wound he had been desperately trying to ignore.

He turned his head to look out the window, his voice dropping to a low growl.

"Ms. Thorne, if you'd like, I can pull over right now. I'm perfectly capable of going to Quincy City alone."

Maeve suddenly let out a dry, bitter laugh.

"Did I say I wasn't going? I have shares in that land too. Honestly, with how indecisive you are, I don't trust you not to ruin it."

Finn refused to say another word. He leaned back against the seat and closed his eyes.

Terrence gripped the steering wheel, unable to stop himself from sneaking another peek in the mirror.

He saw Maeve turn her head to stare out the window. In the shifting light, her profile looked somber, as if she were violently swallowing back whatever she truly wanted to say.

He quickly averted his eyes and focused on the road, but he couldn't shake the nagging thought in the back of his mind.

These two... they looked exactly like an estranged mother and son caught in a petty argument.

It was fascinating.

Meanwhile, at the hospital in Metropolis.

Sienna looked at her screen one last time. Finn had replied, "I ate."

A soft smile touched her lips.

She gently brushed her thumb over his profile picture.

Then, she placed the phone face down on the table and looked up.

Georgina was sitting by the hospital bed, carefully peeling a hard-boiled egg for Noah.
