Finn's voice carried a heavy trace of regret.
"I'm sorry. I didn't think this through."
Sienna didn't sound angry, her tone softening slightly.
"Now you finally understand why I told you to cut contact with her."
Finn nodded.
"I learned my lesson the hard way."
"People are always like that. Until they experience it themselves, they always think they can handle it." Sienna leaned back, her eyes fixed on the endless stretch of road ahead. "Now that she's tortured you, you finally realize my method is the only one that works. You won't think I'm being too cruel anymore."
Finn didn't defend himself, his voice dropping low.
"You were right. From now on, I'm listening to you."
"So what's the plan now?" Sienna asked.
"We're going to The Belvedere."
"Not scared anymore?"
Finn glanced at her. "You just said it yourself. I'm listening to you."
Sienna's lips curved into a faint smile, and she didn't say another word.
The car pulled into the underground garage of The Belvedere, and they took the elevator up.
The second the elevator doors slid open, the screaming from the living room echoed into the hallway.
Lydia's voice was shrill and piercing.
"You Fletchers think you can bully people just because you have money? You hid my daughter! You won't let her see me or answer my calls! Are you trying to force her to cut ties with me? The settlement hasn't even hit my account yet, and you've already taken my daughter hostage? I'm telling you right now, I'm calling the cops!"
Maeve was a fiercely dominant woman.
She had plenty of ruthless methods to deal with enemies in the boardroom.
But facing an utterly shameless, shrieking lunatic like Lydia, even she had met her match.
Maeve was, above all, a dignified woman. She was physically incapable of spewing vulgar garbage, so she swallowed her fury, her voice trembling with restraint.
