Sienna looked at Finn.
"Let's go. I'll take you home."
She gave Dr. Miller a polite nod and turned to walk out.
Finn trailed exactly one step behind her, like a programmed bodyguard locked in escort mode.
Once inside the car, Finn resumed his stiff, perfectly upright posture.
For the entire drive, Sienna didn't say a single word, and neither did Finn.
Her mind was consumed by Dr. Miller's advice, desperately trying to map out how she could help Finn rebuild his shattered emotional core.
The car cruised smoothly down the main avenue.
Suddenly, Finn broke the silence.
"Sienna, I heard the conversation you had in the doctor's office."
Sienna flinched slightly.
She hadn't expected him to initiate the conversation.
Keeping her expression neutral, she waited for him to continue.
"You said it might take a very long time for me to recover. Months, or perhaps even longer."
Sienna kept her eyes glued to the road.
"Yes."
"So, you still believe I am defective," he stated, turning his head to look at her.
Sienna didn't answer right away.
Only after navigating through a busy intersection did she finally speak.
"I believe you survived something incredibly traumatic, and that trauma left deep scars. It takes time for scars to fade. I don't think you're defective. I just think you need time."
Finn's gaze remained icy.
"The doctor diagnosed me with 'Asperger's Syndrome.' He also stated that someone needs to build a bridge between my logic and my emotions." Finn's pacing was completely robotic. "You are the bridge."
"Do you not want me to be your bridge?" Sienna glanced over at him.
Finn stared straight ahead, letting several seconds pass before answering.
"I do not know. If I allow you to build this bridge, what will happen to me?"
"You won't turn into someone else. You'll just slowly find your way back to feeling things." Sienna grasped at a tiny thread of hope. "Like knowing you're actually angry when you feel mad, or knowing you're happy when you smile. Like..." She paused. "Like when you came back to the office to get me just now. You wanted me to take you home, right?"
