Maeve stood in the center of the living room, studying Finn's expressionless face.
"What on earth is going on?"
Finn shot her a brief glance but offered no reply.
Grant frowned, sensing something deeply wrong; Finn had never been this cold to his family.
He spoke up, his tone probing.
"Do you know who I am?"
Finn looked at him.
"Dad," he said, then turned to Maeve. "Mom."
Both Maeve and Grant let out a simultaneous sigh of relief.
He recognized them, which meant he was fine.
But that relief was brutally short-lived as Finn delivered his next sentence.
"I'm exhausted and wish to rest. You should leave."
Maeve and Grant froze in their tracks.
Was he... openly kicking them out of the house?
Finn glanced back at them, his tone completely flat.
"I must remind you that this is my and Sienna's home. In the future, please notify us before visiting instead of dropping by unannounced. It shows a lack of boundaries and is highly inconvenient."
The living room fell into a dead silence for three agonizing seconds.
Maeve opened her mouth but couldn't find her voice.
Grant's face darkened; he was a man of pride, and no one had ever kicked him out to his face—especially not his own son.
Sienna stood nearby, her heart hammering wildly against her ribs.
She knew exactly how hard it had been for Maeve and Grant to repair their relationship with their son.
From constantly being at each other's throats to finally sharing a peaceful family dinner on New Year's Eve, that familial bond had taken incredible effort to rebuild.
And now, with a single sentence, Finn had frozen all that warmth into solid ice.
Before Maeve or Grant could process the shock, Finn had already turned to Sienna.
"Change the passcode."
"Finn..." Maeve's voice trembled.
Grant grabbed Maeve's arm, his face livid.
