I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 89

Yolanda froze for a second.

She looked into Sienna's eyes—they were perfectly calm. There was no panic, no evasion, not even anger.

She suddenly realized this woman was entirely different from the girl she had broken four years ago.

"I suppose dying once really does change a person," Yolanda sneered.

Sienna subconsciously touched her wrist, where the scar remained.

But she didn't take the bait. She just looked at Yolanda, her gaze turning cold and hard.

It was obvious she had no intention of discussing that topic.

She needed to take control of the conversation.

"My time is valuable. If you don't have a point, I'm leaving." She moved to stand up.

Yolanda choked on the words caught in her throat.

"Wait."

She took a deep breath and pivoted her strategy.

"I sent you abroad four years ago, and I can do it again now. The Fletchers are at the height of our power, and I have even better resources at my disposal than I did back then. I can send you abroad again, put you on an even better platform. Do you want to go to Mayo? Hopkins? I can send you anywhere."

Sienna looked at her and laughed.

She genuinely found it hilarious.

"Mrs. Fletcher, I see how it is. Aside from sending me away, you truly have no other way to handle me, do you? If you had any actual leverage, the hospital wouldn't have let me off the hook. So why should I care about anything you have to say?"

The color drained from Yolanda's face.

She wanted to fire back, but she couldn't open her mouth.

Because Sienna was absolutely right.

The only thing she could do was send Sienna away.

If she couldn't get rid of her, she was out of options.

Neither of them had explicitly mentioned Finn, but Sienna was now certain that he had played the decisive role in this mess. That was why his mother was now completely helpless, forced to try and manipulate Sienna directly.

If Sienna's willpower had been even a fraction weaker, she would have fallen right into the trap.

Thankfully, she had held her ground.

The purpose of coming here today had been fulfilled.

Yolanda had already lost the upper hand. Realizing she would face complete defeat if she didn't pull out her trump card, she spoke up again.

"Sienna, aren't you supposed to be incredibly proud? Let me tell you right now, you stole someone else's spot. The only reason your hospital let you go is because my son, Finn, exhausted his resources to turn a dirty lie into a clean truth. So you see, without relying on a man to fix your problems, you are absolutely nothing."

She twisted the knife with one final blow:

"And that man happens to be someone else's husband. Don't you feel morally bankrupt?"

Sienna's heart pounded in her chest.

She hadn't expected Yolanda to bring Finn up. Clearly, the woman was truly desperate.

Seeing through the facade fueled Sienna with an overwhelming sense of confidence and absolute conviction.

Sienna stood up, looking down at Yolanda from a position of power.

"I don't care. Why should I obsess over what happened back then? What I do now is real. I work on the front lines in the ER, treating the sick and saving lives. My life has meaning, and the work I do has value. Do you really think I'm going to lose sleep over how I got here?"

She turned her head and looked across the street.

Sure enough, a familiar silhouette stood there.

It was Finn Fletcher.

He was wearing a dark gray coat, looking sharp and immaculately tailored. With his broad shoulders and narrow waist, he stood tall and imposing, wearing the clothes like a runway model.

The sunlight hit his shoulders, bathing him in a golden glow.

They stood separated by a wide avenue, a relentless stream of cars weaving between them.

Sienna looked at him.

He looked back at her.

Neither of them moved.

A city bus roared past, blocking their line of sight.

Sienna didn't wait for the bus to move. She simply turned and walked away.

Her back was perfectly straight. The sun cast her shadow long and sharp behind her.

She didn't look back.

Not even once.

Finn stood on the opposite side of the street, watching the bus pull away.

By the time the road cleared, she was gone.
