Elaine's comments were a blatant attempt to make them uncomfortable.
She was terrified that Quentin, the eldest grandson, was gaining too much favor with Arthur. She wanted to use the topic of children to pressure them, hoping to distract them from plotting to seize the Vance family inheritance.
But Arthur seemed completely oblivious to her underlying venom. His eyes lit up instantly as he slapped his thigh.
"Exactly! Elaine hit the nail right on the head! I already have one foot in the grave, and I haven't even seen a shadow of a great-grandson yet."
The old man turned to Quentin and Bonnie, his expression turning deadly serious.
"Quentin, Bonnie. If you two can give me a great-grandson, I will immediately transfer the deed to Eastbrook Thermal Springs straight into the child's name!"
Elaine was utterly dumbfounded.
She never expected that her sarcastic jab to humiliate the couple would be taken so literally by the old man!
He was actually offering to hand over a massively valuable piece of real estate to a child that didn't even exist yet!
Marcus Vance's face instantly turned as dark as the bottom of a pot, and he shot his wife a vicious glare.
She was completely useless!
Marcus cleared his throat, hastily stepping in to do damage control.
"Arthur, what's the rush? They're both still young. This is the time for them to focus on their careers."
He turned to Quentin, a condescending, patronizing sneer in his eyes.
"Raising a child isn't cheap these days. Quentin needs to establish himself first before he can support a family. Quentin, you just got back from abroad. Your career isn't exactly stable yet, is it?"
"My company happens to have an opening for a mid-level manager. It's a bit grueling, but for family, I'll make sure you get a decent salary. It's better than you wandering around jobless."
Listening to this, Bonnie couldn't help but frown.
This uncle had condescending snob practically written across his forehead.
