I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 184

Returning to the Davenport Wellness Pavilion, Bonnie splashed cold water on her face in the restroom.

Looking at her slightly red eyes in the mirror, she took a deep breath and made a firm decision.

She couldn't stay here anymore.

If she didn't resign on her own terms, Parrish and Seraphina would cling to her like leeches, doing everything they could to pin the medical malpractice scandal on her.

Besides, working at the reception desk every day meant dealing with repetitive tasks that kept her away from core medical cases and wasted her time.

Since she had decided to pursue her graduate studies, she needed to focus all her energy on exam preparation.

Bonnie walked into Dr. Zimmerman's office and handed in her resignation letter.

Alistair Zimmerman looked at the letter and let out a heavy sigh.

"Bonnie, you have real talent. This is such a shame."

His eyes were filled with regret, but he knew Mr. York had been heavily pressuring the clinic, demanding that Bonnie take the fall.

As much as he wanted to protect her, there was only so much he could do against corporate giants.

"Once this whole mess blows over, if you ever want to come back, my doors are always open for you."

Reluctantly, Dr. Zimmerman signed the paperwork.

"Thank you, Dr. Zimmerman. I'm sorry for all the trouble I've caused recently."

Bonnie bowed respectfully, packed her few belongings into a box, and walked out of the clinic.

"Bonnie!"

Caleb Jenkins ran after her, his eyes rimmed with red. "Are you really leaving? Did Mr. York force you out?"

Looking at her usually timid but fiercely loyal junior colleague, Bonnie felt a warmth spread through her chest.

She reached out and patted Caleb's shoulder with a smile.

"No, this is my own choice."

"Caleb, consider my experience as the last lesson I'll ever teach you."

Bonnie dropped her smile, her tone turning entirely serious.

"You need to be much more careful at The Pavilion from now on."

"This is the real working world. When you have no background and no power, the tiniest oversight can become the leverage someone else uses to destroy you."

"If you aren't smart and cautious, you'll easily fall into a trap someone else has set. Do you understand?"

Caleb's eyes grew even redder as he nodded firmly.

"I'll remember that, Bonnie."

Bonnie smiled, hugged her box, and turned to walk into the scorching midday sun.

Back at the Riverstone Heights apartment.

Just as the cool air conditioning hit her, Bonnie's phone buzzed.

She had a new friend request on social media.

The name read 'Vivian Xavier,' and the profile picture was a black-and-white silhouette.
