The originally cozy and neat bedroom now looked as if it had been ransacked.
The bedsheets and duvet were gone, the books on the desk had vanished, and even the few clothes she had hung in the closet were nowhere to be found.
Bonnie gasped in pure shock and immediately pulled out her phone to call Mrs. Finch.
"Mrs. Finch, did you clean my room today? Why is everything gone?"
Mrs. Finch chuckled warmly on the other end of the line, her voice as kind as ever.
"Well, ma'am, since you and Mr. Vance are married, it's only natural that you share a room. I noticed you've been too busy to move your things, so I went ahead and moved everything into the master bedroom this afternoon."
Bonnie was utterly speechless.
After hanging up the phone, Bonnie collapsed helplessly onto the sofa, her mind buzzing with white noise.
The night deepened, but Bonnie sat there hugging her knees, lost in thought for who knew how long.
Buzz—
Her phone vibrated suddenly.
Bonnie picked it up and saw a text from Quentin.
[Are you planning to stay up all night?]
Staring at the words on the screen, Bonnie's expression twisted into one of extreme conflict.
She ran her hands through her hair, finally dragging her heavy feet toward the master bedroom door.
The thought of having to face Quentin again, let alone sleeping in the same bed, made her wish she could spontaneously combust on the spot.
She squeezed her eyes shut and, in a moment of pure frustration, gently knocked her forehead against the hallway wall.
Thud.
Thud.
Just as she was winding up for a third bump, the master bedroom door suddenly swung open from the inside.
From above her, the man's deep, magnetic voice floated down.
"Giving up on life already? Then how are you going to sell yourself to me?"
Bonnie froze, her head-bumping motion halted mid-air.
With her hair slightly disheveled, she turned her head awkwardly.
