Quentin walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window. It was a long moment before he finally spoke, his voice ice-cold.
"The only person I could ever be betrothed to has always been her, and it will only ever be her."
With that, he hung up.
Meanwhile, in an exclusive VIP room at a high-end KTV in Harlow City.
The lighting was dim, colorful neon washing over the leather sofas.
Listening to the dial tone, Parrish's mind went entirely blank.
Quentin's ambiguous yet incredibly pointed words slammed into his intoxicated brain like a sledgehammer.
His grip loosened, and the phone slipped through his fingers, clattering onto the marble floor.
Standing by the song selection screen, Curtis Miller jumped in surprise and quickly dropped his microphone.
"Boss, you've definitely had too much to drink. You dropped your phone."
Flashing a sycophantic smile, Curtis crouched down, picked up the phone, and wiped the screen on his sleeve.
But before he could hand it over, Parrish suddenly lunged, grabbing him fiercely by the collar.
"Who is she? Who exactly is she?"
Parrish's eyes were bloodshot, the veins bulging on his forehead. He looked like an animal that had completely lost control.
"Why can't I find anything? Why won't anyone tell me? That bastard Zachary even wanted to laugh at my misery! It can't be Bonnie, right? There's absolutely no way it's her!"
Terrified by his violent outburst, Curtis froze, his hands hovering in mid-air, entirely paralyzed.
"Boss, what... what are you talking about? I don't understand a word you're saying."
Parrish glared at him, his heavy breaths reeking of alcohol splashing across Curtis's face.
Suddenly, as if remembering something, Parrish shoved Curtis aside and whipped his head toward the corner of the room.
Uncomfortable in this kind of environment, Jasmine Nash was hugging her purse and shrinking into the sofa.
"Jasmine!"
Parrish crossed the room in a few strides. Planting one hand on the armrest next to her, he loomed over her, his stare oppressive.
"What has Bonnie been doing lately? Did she ever mention anything to you about a Legacy Betrothal?"
Jasmine shrank back from his terrifying intensity, looking entirely confused.
