Inside the CEO's office at Vance Global.
"Slam!"
A folder was aggressively slammed onto the desk. Zachary stood there wearing a loose dress shirt, the top two buttons undone, his light blonde hair slightly tousled.
Though a few days had passed since the fight, the bruising on his face had faded to near invisibility. Only a faint, unnoticeable shadow lingered at the corner of his eye, making his predatory gaze look even colder.
"Quentin, you promised me you'd look out for my sister."
He planted his hands on the desk, grinding his teeth. "Is this what you call looking out for her?"
Behind the desk, Quentin wore a sleek black dress shirt, the sleeves neatly rolled to his forearms.
His face was devoid of emotion, and he didn't even bother to lift his eyes.
Watching his complete indifference, Zachary felt a sharp pain in his chest from sheer fury.
Did Quentin have any idea how much blood, sweat, and tears Vivian had sacrificed to secure the position of R&D Director at Vance Global?
She spent day and night locked in the lab, finally cementing herself as a core asset to the company.
And with one single sentence, Quentin had transferred her out of her position. What was the difference between this and putting her permanently on ice?
Quentin methodically capped his fountain pen, his gaze casually sweeping over the transfer documents on his desk.
"It's a promotion. You should be celebrating for her."
"Celebrate my ass!" Zachary couldn't hold back the curse.
"Don't play dumb with me! This is a phantom promotion!"
"She was doing a stellar job as R&D Director, just taking over the projects you personally assigned to her, and you instantly shipped her overseas to be some head of an international research branch."
"Everyone knows you're slowly shifting Vance Global's operations back domestically! How is she supposed to prove her worth stuck overseas? You're obviously just trying to get rid of her!"
Quentin didn't argue. He simply pulled open a drawer, pulled out a tube of lipstick and a lab report, and tossed them onto the desk.
"Look for yourself."
