I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 230

A moment later, she reached out and picked up the lipstick, a faint, almost imperceptible smile curving her lips.

"He didn't expose me in front of everyone. It seems he still cares about me."

Zachary actually laughed at the absurdity. "You're really good at comforting yourself."

"Do you have any idea you almost dragged me down with you? You dared to target his wife right under his nose, and then tried to pin the blame on Parrish to kill two birds with one stone?"

Vivian set the lipstick back on the coffee table, her expression perfectly serene.

"I didn't tell you to touch her. The room was yours, and the waiter was an employee of the hotel. As long as you didn't touch her, the worst-case scenario was Quentin suspecting Parrish."

She looked up at Zachary, her lips curling into a smile. "I just wanted to test how much weight that woman holds in his heart. I also wanted to see if he would actually move against me for her."

What she hadn't expected, however, was that Bonnie's weight in Quentin's heart had silently grown to such a terrifying extent.

Heavy enough that he was willing to cripple a core pillar of Vance Global's R&D just to transfer her out of Harlow City.

At that thought, the light in Vivian's eyes darkened for a fraction of a second.

Zachary's expression grew even uglier. "So you did it on purpose? I was wondering when you got so stupid. It's one thing to make a move, but to actually let Quentin catch you red-handed?"

He let out a furious scoff. "So you're just playing everyone like pawns?"

"Vivian, let me warn you. Quentin is not a merciful man. If you actually push him too far, he will completely obliterate everything you've spent all these years clawing your way up to achieve."

Vivian said nothing, merely picking up the water glass from the table and taking a small sip.

Her eerie calmness only made Zachary feel more suffocated.

"Quentin is going to bring Bonnie out in a few days. You are going to apologize to her, pay whatever compensation they ask for, and keep your head down. As long as this blows over, he'll let you stay in Harlow City."

Setting the glass down, Vivian finally smiled. "Of course I'll apologize. Staying in Harlow City is more important than anything else."

Zachary frowned at her. "What are you scheming now?"

Vivian raised an eyebrow elegantly. "You're the one demanding I apologize. I agreed, and now you're suspicious? Zachary, you're impossible to please."

Zachary stared at her for a very long time.
