"Jillian, I'm still trying to win her over." Quentin tucked his phone away, a remarkably gentle smile curving his lips. "She hasn't officially accepted me as her boyfriend yet."
Bonnie stood frozen on the spot, another giant question mark popping over her head.
Was this man out of his mind? What kind of nonsense was he sprouting?
Hearing this, Jillian immediately grew anxious and glared at Bonnie.
"What is wrong with you? A man this incredible, and you're still being picky?"
"Mom, I didn't..." she tried to explain.
But Jillian grabbed her hand, launching into a lecture.
"Quentin is such a good man. He bought flowers and brought all these supplements just to see me. You need to treat him well, you hear me?"
Bonnie couldn't help but shoot a side-eye at Quentin.
With the top button of his white shirt undone, he looked crisp and impeccably groomed.
Meeting her gaze, he didn't show a trace of his usual cold demeanor. Instead, his smile only grew softer, a flicker of feigned hurt in his eyes.
She took a sharp breath, feeling like she was meeting him for the very first time.
"Mom, please stop worrying. Getting better is the most important thing right now."
Sighing helplessly, she stepped forward and tucked the thin blanket securely around her mother.
"How can I not worry?" Jillian's eyes dimmed, her tone heavy with sorrow. "Every time this illness flares up, I feel like I'm running out of time. My only wish in this life is to see you settle down before I close my eyes. I just want to know you have someone who loves you, someone who will give you a stable life."
A painful lump formed in her throat, and her eyes burned. "Mom, don't talk like that. You're going to live a long, long time."
To comfort her mother and stop her from overthinking, she gritted her teeth and just blurted it out.
"Actually, we..."
Sitting next to them, Quentin straightened his spine slightly. His dark eyes locked onto her, a glimmer of anticipation flashing deep within them.
He wanted her to admit, right then and there, that they were already married.
