I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 262

He stepped up beside Bonnie, casting a freezing glare at Vivian.

Vivian pressed her lips together. After a moment, she finally spoke. "She caused you to be poisoned and fall into a coma. As your friend of many years, I was worried about you. Am I not allowed to ask?"

Quentin let out a cold laugh, utterly devoid of warmth.

"Friend?"

Vivian's fingertips curled inward slightly.

Quentin stared at her, his tone so indifferent it bordered on cruel.

"First of all, I poisoned myself. It had nothing to do with Bonnie. Secondly, since when are we friends? Did you really think that just because I hung out with your brother for a few years, you could leverage his connection to claim a relationship with me?"

"Vivian, in the past, I gave you face out of respect for Zachary, not because you're special. You should be very clear on that!"

Bonnie was somewhat surprised. She knew Quentin was aloof and sharp-tongued, but she hadn't expected him to be this ruthless toward Vivian.

The color drained slightly from Vivian's lips, her gaze trembling, as if those words had finally punctured years of self-deception.

She truly hadn't expected Quentin to be this heartless.

It was as if the path she had chased him down all these years, the things she had done for him, the seniority and results she had achieved at Vance Global—all of it had been rendered irrelevant with a single casual sentence just because Bonnie appeared.

But he had never been this kind of person.

Quentin was always cold, but he was always fair.

He never played favorites, and he despised incompetence occupying important positions. As long as someone was capable, even if he disliked them, he would still give them a chance.

And it was exactly through that capability that she had managed to step by step stand by his side.

Vivian thought her seven years of effort had at least earned her a special place in his eyes.

But now, everything was different.

He no longer cared about her abilities, no longer gave her dignity, and had even tried to transfer her overseas.

Even though Zachary had stepped in to stop it, her most important project had still been taken away.

He was methodically marginalizing her.

Even though she remained one of Vance Global's most brilliant R&D talents, he was willing to personally shatter his own hiring principles just for Bonnie.

That realization made Vivian's heart ache with a freezing cold.

But she quickly suppressed her moment of weakness. When she looked up again, her expression was calm.
