I Walked Away Seven Years Too Late But Right on Time novel Chapter 150

Victoria let out a bitter, mocking laugh. "I spent my entire marriage terrified he'd stray. I tracked his every move, yet he still managed to pull this off. By some miracle, this bastard child wasn't his. But what about next time?"

She pressed a shaking hand flat against her chest, fighting to draw breath.

Luke slowly slid the report back across the desk. He felt entirely violated just looking at something so profoundly horrific.

The test was dated back in March, right around the time Eileen had ambushed Sophie with the industrial bleach.

There was zero identifying information about the child on the paperwork. Luke had absolutely no idea when Harold had initiated this devastating betrayal.

He had spent his entire life idolizing the man, convinced he was the pinnacle of integrity.

"Eileen cannot know about this. It will absolutely break her. While I was having a mental breakdown over her arrest, Harold was busy running back-alley DNA tests..."

Luke nodded numbly. But he still didn't understand what this had to do with him, or what Victoria wanted him to do.

"I don't know if that vile girl is doing this to punish Eileen for the attack, or to punish you for abandoning her all those years ago. But you are the common denominator. You dragged her into our lives, and you are going to fix this."

"I plan to bring her back, but I can't force her. And frankly, I refuse to believe Sophie is capable of any of this."

"You don't have a choice! I don't care if you have to lie to her, drug her, or drag her out of there yourself—you are taking her far away from this family."

Victoria was losing her grip. She forced herself to take a slow, agonizing breath before continuing. "I met her twice when I was trying to fix Eileen's mess, but I barely looked at her. When Eileen shoved those photos in my face, I finally realized exactly why Harold is so obsessed with her. She has those same manipulative, predatory eyes. Just looking at them... makes my blood run cold."

By the end of her sentence, Victoria was practically frothing at the mouth.

"I envy your mother. Your father was so obsessed with her, he embezzled company funds and torched his entire career just to save her life. When Harold decided to play the hero and cover your father's theft, he didn't have the cash. I was the one who pulled the money from my trust fund to save your family."

Luke hung his head. Every time she brought up the debt, it felt like an iron collar snapping shut around his throat.

"You don't need to say anything else, Victoria. I already promised I was going to try and bring her back with me."

"Move abroad. Take your parents with you. Just make sure that tramp never crosses paths with my husband ever again."

Luke looked at her, his eyes hollow and defeated.

"How can you say that?! If it weren't for me finding those photos, you'd still be playing the blissfully ignorant wife! I am going with him. I'm going to take those photos and smash them into her disgusting face! I want the whole world to know what a whore she is. She stole my fiancé, and now she's trying to steal my father! She belongs in a jail cell!"

Eileen was practically rabid. There was no way she was missing out on the ultimate revenge tour.

Sophie had locked her in a holding cell for three agonizing days. Eileen was going to track her down and slap her senseless. She would strip away her innocent facade and force both Luke and Gavin to see the diseased truth. She would expose her to her coworkers and friends until Sophie couldn't even show her face in public without being spit on.

"This is exactly why you aren't going! You're completely unstable. I just want her out of my husband's life. I am not turning this into a public circus."

"You care more about your pathetic reputation than anything else! My father humiliated you, and you're still bending over backwards to protect his pride!"

"Eileen..."

Victoria clutched her chest, her hands trembling violently.

"I don't care what you say, I'm going! And I'm leaving right now!"

With that final scream, Eileen stormed up the stairs to pack her bags.
