I Walked Away Seven Years Too Late But Right on Time novel Chapter 176

Today, when Sophie had come looking for him, that hug and her whispered 'I missed you' had meant the absolute world to him.

Lately, she had always been rushing from one crisis to another. He hadn't even had the chance to just hold her quietly for a minute.

Jason called, but Gwen explicitly told him not to pick her up. "I want to hang out with Sophie tonight." She glanced at Sophie, who nodded with a smile.

"You don't mind, do you, Gavin? I haven't seen Sophie in forever. Tonight is a girls' night."

"What if I say I do mind?" Gavin raised an eyebrow.

"Your objection is overruled. Sophie already agreed."

Gwen hooked her arm through Sophie's, shooting him a challenging smirk.

Defeated, Gavin paid the bill and drove them back.

Once at Sophie's apartment, the two showered and crawled into bed, kicking off their late-night chat.

"Spill it. What is actually going on? During dinner, I could tell Gavin was distracted. He's usually so bright and easygoing, but today he was strangely quiet."

Sophie fell silent. Gavin wasn't just unusually quiet today; he had been subdued for a while. It was just that she had been so caught up in the chaos that she hadn't had the energy to check in on him.

Every day after work, she rushed to the hospital, agonizing over Luke's condition while fending off Harold and Victoria Harper. By the time she got home, she was so drained she barely wanted to speak. She had practically been treating Gavin like an Uber driver.

Meanwhile, he was caught squarely between her and his parents. Even though he never complained, she knew it was taking a toll.

"I really haven't been there for him lately."

Sophie laid everything out, from Eileen's sudden ambush to Luke regaining consciousness. Gwen gasped in disbelief throughout the whole story.

"That's enough material for a whole TV drama, and a trashy soap opera at that."

Sophie smiled bitterly. Who on earth wanted this kind of melodrama in their real life?

"Sophie, I'm so sorry. I actually used Luke to provoke Gavin earlier today. I had no idea you guys were dealing with all this. I shouldn't be monopolizing your time with him. If I were him, I'd be dying inside. Who could handle their girlfriend visiting her ex every single day?"

As Sophie was quietly processing Gwen's words, Gwen suddenly switched gears entirely.

"Wait, does this mean you're secretly loaded now? First, you land Gavin, the undercover rich kid, and now you have a billionaire dad. I feel like the only broke loser left on earth!"

"You need to go full Empress Sophie! Fight those women for the inheritance, step on their necks, and turn Apex Holdings into Sullivan Holdings! Hahaha, that would be so satisfying!"
