I Walked Away Seven Years Too Late But Right on Time novel Chapter 178

Seeing the teasing glint in Sophie's eyes, Gavin knew his micro-expressions hadn't escaped her.

He pulled her into his arms, tucking her head against his chest. "I really am a little jealous," he murmured into her ear. "He was the one who saved you, not me."

"Maybe he just wanted to close the book on the past. We're completely even now, and I've made that perfectly clear to him. I will handle my own mess. As for your parents..."

Sophie playfully poked Gavin directly over his heart.

"I'll handle it as quickly as possible," he promised instantly.

Sophie looked up, wrapping her arms around his neck. She held his gaze for a long moment, her eyes soft and shimmering, before pressing a gentle kiss to his lips.

Just as she pulled back, Gavin tightened his hold, pulling her in to deepen the kiss.

He kissed her, slowly walking her backward.

Sophie let him back her up, step by step, right toward the bedroom.

They tumbled onto the mattress. Gavin leaned over her, his arms braced on either side of her head. Staring down into her bright, compelling eyes, he forced himself to rein it in.

He hadn't sorted out his family yet. This wasn't the right way to do things.

Sophie lowered her eyelashes. They were so close their heartbeats were racing in tandem, their breathing ragged.

That intoxicating, desperate kiss had left her head spinning. When Gavin reached out his hand, she numbly took it, fully expecting him to pull her closer.

Instead, he hauled her off the bed.

"Let's go for a swim."

Sophie blinked, utterly confused. Her lips were parted, her eyes still hazy. It took her a second to process what he had just said.
