I Walked Away Seven Years Too Late But Right on Time novel Chapter 183

Sophie stood frozen.

Her clash with Victoria downstairs had filled her with toxic frustration, and she had ridden the elevator up seething with anger.

Deep down, she couldn't help but blame Luke for dragging her into the crosshairs of those lunatics. She had walked into his room looking thunderous.

Even just moments ago, reliving their painful history had rekindled her lingering resentment.

But now, watching Luke lie there with calm, gentle eyes, a completely indescribable emotion washed over her.

"Thank you," she said softly.

The corners of Luke's lips quirked up into a faint smile. He kept his eyes on her until she opened the door and stepped out, only then allowing his eyes to flutter shut.

"Sophie..." Eleanor called out from where she was guarding the door. "Are you two..."

"Eleanor, I'm sorry. I have an appointment. I have to go."

Sophie offered a polite nod and quickly walked away.

Stepping out of the elevator, she quickened her pace, practically jogging toward Gavin's parked car.

She bent down to look through the window, but he wasn't inside. Frowning, she pulled out her phone and dialed his number, her tone urgent. "Where are you?"

"I'll be right there. Wait by the car."

Moments later, Gavin approached briskly, holding two iced drinks.

Seeing that Sophie's expression had softened drastically, and catching the faint glimmer of a smile in her eyes, he asked, "He agreed to pursue the lawsuit?"

Sophie took the iced limeade he offered, nodding. "I didn't even have to convince him. It was his own choice. His mother was just twisting his words."

Stepping closer, she caught a whiff of perfume clinging to him and looked up in confusion. "Where did you go? You smell like women's perfume."

Gavin lifted his arm, sniffing his sleeve before wincing. "This scent is seriously stubborn."

As his arm went up, the sleeve slid back, revealing jagged scratch marks on his wrist. Frowning, Sophie grabbed his forearm and shoved the sleeve all the way to his elbow.

"Victoria did this?"
