I was his allergen she was his cure what if this allergen turns lethal? novel Chapter 12

Chapter 4

The air froze solid.

Then, Seth laughed. A short, dismissive sound. “So that’s it. You’re worried about your position. I told you, Eleanor and I are impossible. You’ll always be Mrs. Sterling. Their mother.”

He thought the matter settled.

Back to business as usual. “Enough drama. Connor and Chloe turn five soon. Plan their birthday gala. Make it special.”

A wave of bitter sorrow washed over Fiona.

Every year, she poured her heart into their parties. That trust fund she’d tried to set up? Intended as their birthday gift.

But she wasn’t their mother. Couldn’t give that gift.

Fiona stayed silent. Seth took it as agreement. He added, almost as an afterthought, “Eleanor shares their birthday. Strange coincidence. Plan for her too. More guests, merrier.”

Fiona’s world imploded with a silent roar. Fury turned her limbs to ice, trembling uncontrollably.

During her pregnancy, the twins grew huge. Near the end, doctors recommended induction. Seth insisted on waiting.

“Every day inside is better for them.”

Eager to do what was best, Fiona agreed.

The final weeks were agony. Sleepless nights. Stretch marks tearing across her skin like lightning.

She’d cried silently over her ruined body, telling herself to be strong. For the children.

She endured until Seth finally scheduled the C-section.

Now she knew the truth. That suffering? Just so Eleanor’s children could share their mother’s birthday. Deepening their bond.

Pathetic. So utterly pathetic!

The birthday gala arrived.

Held at home, Fiona couldn’t escape. She stood lost in the crowd.

Eleanor was the undisputed star.

A blush-pink diamond encrusted mermaid gown clung to her flawless figure. Every jewel she wore? A recent Seth acquisition, globally unique.

Connor in a miniature tux, Chloe in a pink floral dress, they entered hand in hand with Eleanor.

A clueless guest murmured, “Lucky Mrs. Sterling. Gorgeous, devoted hushand. Perfect twins who look just like her.”

Someone nudged her sharply. “Shh! That’s just the ex-girlfriend, back from abroad. Triends’? Looks more like the real love of his life.”

“No wonder he married that plain wife. Just a stand-in. No kids to wrangle, no wonder she looks so young. Figure’s great. Pink really suits her.”

Chapter 4

Fiona couldn’t bear it. She slipped onto the balcony, counting the minutes until freedom.

“Knowing you’re just the stand in, how do you have the gall to stay?”

Eleanor materialized beside her, radiating condescension.

“I’m back to claim Seth. You’ll be tossed out soon.”

She expected panic, tears.

Seth said Fiona was just a clueless housewife.

Instead, Fiona remained unnervingly calm. “Try me.”

Seth’s decisions were ironclad.

Even loving Eleanor, the blood feud, the family decree… marriage was impossible.

“You dare?” Eleanor’s eyes turned venomous. “Don’t think popping out two little brats secures your spot. I’ll show you who matters more

or his cheap copy!”

In one swift motion, Eleanor unclasped her bracelet. It arced through the air, disappearing into the dark lake below.

Eleanor’s voice rose, sharp with feigned outrage. “Seth and I are just friends! Even if you doubt it, throwing my bracelet away? Go get it back!”

Every eye swiveled to them.

Seth strode over.

He hesitated. “Eleanor, she’s been unwell. Maybe an accident. The water’s cold tonight. I’ll get you a dozen better bracelets.”

Eleanor’s voice cracked, tears welling.

“There is no better! She threw away the one you gave me!”

Raw pain filled her eyes.

Seth paled.

Fiona knew why. His secret account mentioned it. A pink conch pearl bracelet.

Conch pearls – rarer than diamonds, worth a fortune per stone. He’d found enough for a strand.

More than that it was his declaration of love to Eleanor years ago. Their token.

Eleanor had sacrificed her most precious weapon to frame her.
