Nevin had inevitably had a little alcohol. Joe followed him back to the office to wrap things up and found that Rhea had already prepared a honey ginger tea.

Nevin was not drunk.

“Mr. Ruiz, let Mr. Blackwell rest for a while,” Rhea said, bringing over a cup of honey ginger tea, carrying herself like the lady of the house.

In the past, Joe would not have paid much attention to what Rhea said.

This time, he hesitated and instinctively looked at Nevin

Nevin had barely been eating these days. After drinking, his stomach felt worse. He tilted his chin at Joe. “Go take a break.”

“Yes.”

Joe hesitated, clearly having more work to report.

Rhea smiled smugly at him. “Mr. Blackwell, drink the honey ginger tea and take a short nap. You will feel

better.”

“Thank you.”

Nevin guessed that Rhea had learned how to prepare the honey ginger tea from Demi. It was better than nothing, even if it was not made by Demi.

After finishing the tea, Nevin lay down on the sofa.

The couch was over six and a half feet long, enough for him to stretch out fully.

Rhea cleaned up the cups, stepped out, then came back and draped a coat over him.

Nevin instinctively grabbed her hand. Rhea’s heart raced wildly.

“Demi, my stomach hurts. Help me rub it…”

Nevin pulled her hand toward his stomach as they spoke at the same time.

Hearing Rhea’s voice, Nevin snapped his eyes open. “Why is it…”

He flung her hand away.

The flush on Rhea’s face slowly faded. “Mr. Blackwell, please rest. I will not disturb you.”

Regret flooded her heart. She wished she had not spoken.

Rhea turned and left, her fingertips still holding the lingering warmth of his chest.

Nevin frowned and finally noticed the coat on his body.

In his haze just now, he had thought it was Demi. That was why he did what he had done just now.

Chapter 126 Crossing the Line

Lately, Rhea had been doing many of the things Demi used to do, which gave Nevin the illusion that Demi was still by his side.

While Nevin was on his lunch break, Rhea went home on purpose and personally cooked some soup before returning to the office.

When Nevin woke from his rest, Rhea arrived just in time with the soup. “Mr. Blackwell, have some soup to warm your stomach.”

As she spoke, she naturally picked up the coat from the sofa and took it aside to iron it.

Nevin frowned. Rhea moved with ease, as if she had done this countless times.

Her figure overlapped with Demi in his memory.

Nevin finally realized what felt wrong. “Rhea.”

“I’m here.”

Rhea turned back with an innocent look.

“Put the clothes there. Go do your work.”

“It’s fine, Mr. Blackwell. It’s just a small thing. I’ll be done soon.”

Rhea did not understand what he meant and turned on the iron anyway.

Nevin said firmly, “Rhea, you crossed the line.”

Her back stiffened. She could hear the finality in his voice.

She slowly turned around. Nevin’s gaze was cold, the same distant Nevin from before.

“Take these away,” Nevin said, glancing at the thermos he had not touched. “Do not make soup or tea again. That is not your role.”

Rhea’s eyes filled with tears.

She understood. It was not her role. It was Demi’s.

She could not understand how Nevin seemed to wake up after just a nap.

Still, defiance flickered in her eyes. She refused to believe Nevin had felt nothing these past days.

Nevin frowned impatiently. No matter how unwilling she felt, Rhea did not dare say more.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Blackwell. I just thought I could help take care of you for Demi.”

Two tears fell as Rhea stepped forward to pack up the opened thermos. She walked a few steps away, did not turn back, and said carefully, “I’ve always wanted to thank you for looking after me all these years.”

Then she left.

Nevin’s brow relaxed. He remembered how Rhea had been cornered by debt collectors after her gambling
