Chapter 163

My eyes narrowed. “Seriously? You didn’t have to say all that. I’ll be honest, it did make me nervous, but I didn’t anticipate the taste of his lips. I’m way past it now. I don’t want him to have that hold on me.”
“Damn, you really want to make this work with Maddox.” She chuckled like she was impressed.
I nodded in agreement. “He’s been so good to me and I like him lot, more than I thought I ever would. I’m not about to give that up for someone like Grayson, who’s only paying attention to me now that everything in his life is fucked. Enough about him. I’ll be right back.”
I began to approach one of the stalls when she looked in the mirror and said, “I better clean up this mess Aiden left with his plump and juicy lips.”
I was still in the stall when Ella called Zoey, asking where she was She gave her our location and when we headed out, we waited for her.
It took a few minutes, but we finally spotted her from a distance. She approached us with long strides, her sharp gaze fixed on Zoey.
“I think she’s mad at me,” Zoey said to me.
“Agreed.”
When Ella finally caught up, I noticed that she still had her lipstick on. It didn’t look like she’d done any touch–ups to it. Even her hair was still perfect.
Her nostrils flared as she said, “Has Zoey told you what she did when I was trying so hard to-”
“Yeah, I told her,” Zoey interrupted her. “That was after she caught Aiden and I kissing passionately.”
“What? You kissed him?” She twisted her face in disgust.
“Yup, passionately,” Zoey proudly admitted.
“How could you? After what they did to us?”
“Look, I know what they did was messed up, but Aiden and I…my heart tells me we could try again and this time, for real.”
“Bullshit.”
“Look, just because you want nothing to do with his brother, doesn’t mean it should be the same for me. We’re two different people.”
I held my breath, hoping Ella wouldn’t look at me and ask me to say something. I didn’t want to pick a side right there.
To my surprise and relief, Ella sighed and nodded. “You’re right How I feel about Adrian doesn’t mean you should feel the same about Aiden.”
Zoey smiled. “Thanks. So, what happened? Did you guys talk?”
“Yeah, I told him to fuck off.”
“Damn.” Zoey cleared her throat. “I guess I was the only person who couldn’t resist.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”

Chapter 163
I wanted to be the one to say it, but Zoey beat me to it, giving Ell every detail I’d mentioned.
81%
“Fuck that asshole.” Ella rubbed her hands together with satisfaction. “I would have kicked him a second time in the balls! He still thinks he’s that guy. Harp, I’m so proud of you for fighting.
“Thanks.” My lips curled into a smile. “Now that we’re all together again, we should head to that furniture store.”
“What if Grayson’s still there?” she raised her eyebrows like it was going to be such a big deal.
I placed a hand on my hip. “So what if he’s still there? I’m not hiding from him.”
“In that case,” she stood right between Zoey and I and threw her arms over our shoulders. “Let’s get back there right now. It doesn’t matter if he’s still there. It’s not like he can attempt to kiss her again. Isn’t that right, Zoey?”
Calling out her name the first time didn’t work, so she said it louder and it was then that Zoey finally paid attention.
“Huh? Did you say something?”
Ella pursed her lips. “Still daydreaming about the way Aiden kissed you?”
“Shut up.” Zoey playfully glared.
“Now that I look at your lips, it’s pretty obvious.” Ella teased as she stared a bit too long at Zoey’s lips.
“At least I got some action, unlike you!”
I thought it would end soon, but they kept teasing each other even as we approached the furniture store.
Even though I wasn’t hiding from Grayson, I still hoped he wasn’t going to be in the store.
When he’d tried to kiss me, I could’ve easily threatened him by saying Maddox was around. That would’ve scared him real good since he had been humiliated by him the last time he thought he was about to meet a potential business partner. But I chose not to scare him with that. I wanted to do this on my own and the fact that I succeeded, made me so proud.
We entered the furniture store and I didn’t even bother to look around for him. I maintained the view of the section that had the chairs as we headed there.
We finally found something we could agree on as it was just soft enough.
After Zoey made the payment and the sofas were loaded, something had been bothering me and I felt that was the right
time to do it.
“I’d love to go home with you two, but there’s somewhere I have to go.”
They both looked at each other with confusion.
“Did something else happen?” Ella asked. “I thought we’d go home together and help Zoey set up everything in her new home.”
“Yes, that was the plan, but after what happened in the store with you know who, I just feel uneasy. I need to see Maddox.”
They both gasped.
“Wait, you want to tell him?” Ella asked with wide eyes.
I nodded with a look of determination. “I have to. It’s the right thing to do. I don’t want to hide anything from him.”
Zoey crossed her arms and stepped forward. “Have you taken into consideration what he’s going to do to Grayson?”
