It Doesn’t Matter Anymore novel Chapter 97

Chapter 97

As Lucas left the hospital, his mood was at its worst

He couldn’t pinpoint why exactly.

But his anger was uncontrollable, and all he could think about was seeing Liora.

Finding out Liora’s whereabouts wasn’t difficult.

He soon learned that she was going to a well-known garden restaurant with her colleagues from the dance troupe for a dinnerigathering

It was just about the right time.

Jennie called, saying she was feeling better and wanted to meet him.

By some twist of fate, Lucas made a reservation at the garden restaurant and then went to pick up Jennie.

The dance troupe’s table was a large one, located near the stage, easily visible to anyone in the restaurant.

Lucas’s seat gave him a clear view of everything happening there, while Liora couldn’t see him at all.

The entire evening, he saw a side of Liora he had never known.

She was always so gentle with him, always smiling sweetly.

But with these people, she laughed freely, her joy almost infectious.

The young men seemed to flock around her, especially the one who pulled her up to dance.

As they danced, his face lit up with a grin that didn’t fade.

Lucas couldn’t even begin to describe what he was feeling.

It was as if his chest were going to explode.

Then Jennie said, “Luke, don’t you think Liora is getting a bit too close to that guy? She’s in such a hurry to divorce you, even pushing Grandma into

the hospital. Could it be that…?”

Jennie covered her mouth with a look of feigned shock, as if she’d just uncovered the truth

Lucas lightly tapped the table. “Focus on your meal.”

Jennie gave a soft ‘oh’ and obediently shut her mouth.

For the past couple of days, there was something Lucas couldn’t understand.

Could a person really fall out of love just like that?

But… what if they had fallen in love with someone else?

The thought hit him like a bolt of lightning.

Suddenly, everything about Liora-the way she moved, her radiant smile-felt so much more glaring.

His rational mind told him that if she had indeed fallen for someone else, so what?

He didn’t love her anymore. The divorce was a good thing.

Chapter 97

But the anger kept tugging at him, threatening to tear him apart.

Until just now.

He’d deliberately parked his car next to her, making sure she saw Jennie with him

Liora had ignored them completely, even flipping him the bird.

She wasn’t angry. She was disgusted.

Lucas’s reason snapped.

In Liora’s eyes, he was the master of emotional coldness.

He was always distant, never showing much emotion.

Especially not in front of her.

He had felt humiliated by the idea of the divorce, but now, it was different. -Hhe was \furious.

Liora didn’t even want to respond to him, just flipping him off with both hands, ready to leave this pathetic couple behind.

But Lucas had predicted her move.

He grabbed her hand. “Don’t be so rude! Answer me, did you cheat during our marriage?”

Liora looked as though she had just heard a joke.

She turned her gaze to Jennie, still crying not far away.

“I’m not you.”

Liora pulled her gaze away, giving a mocking hum.

The disdain and disappointment in her eyes stung Lucas once more.

“She’s crying. You shouldn’t be picking a fight with your ex-wife right now!” Liora reminded him.

“Ex-wife?” Lucas laughed in anger. He sneered, “Mrs. Chandler, have you forgotten? We’re still in the waiting period!”

The words left his mouth before he could stop them.

Lucas froze for a second.

Liora smirked. “Right, the waiting period. I’m out here dancing with a handsome young man in front of everyone, and you’re on a date with your pregnant little childhood sweetheart. We’ve both got bright futures ahead.”

She laid on the sarcasm thick.

Lucas’s eyes turned red with fury.

Liora was getting tired of this.

She pulled her hand out of his grip and turned to leave.

“Are you leaving New York?” Lucas suddenly asked.

Chapter 97

He had overheard Liora’s agent earlier in the car

Without turning back, Liora raised both hands, sending a final two-finger salute his way

Being mute had its advantages

It cut out all the unnecessary explanations, making her insults more direct and concise

At least she would be going to the “madhouse” tomorrow. She wouldn’t have to see Lucas again until the cooling off period ende

“Luke, are you okay?”

Jennie ran over after Liora left, looking at Lucas’s cheek where the faint outline of a slap remained “She’s the one at fault, how could she ho

like this? After all these years, Liora hasn’t changed a bit!”

Lucas pulled away from Jennie’s hand as she reached out to touch his cheek.

“I’ll take you back.”

“Luke!” Jennie called out as she watched him walk toward the car, her voice dripping with playful reproach.

Lucas strode back to the car, his mind scattered.

This was the first time Liora had slapped him…

She actually slapped him…

And said that she and that pretty boy had a bright future, just like he and Jennie did.

On the way to drop Jennie back at the hospital, the atmosphere in the car was so heavy, it felt suffocating. Lucas didn’t say a word.

Even Jennie couldn’t help but feel a bit scared.

Lucas had changed so much over the years.

Three years ago, when they broke up, he was still a carefree young heir.

But in just three years, he had fully adopted the demeanor of a predator.

She felt both happy and worried.

She was happy that Liora had completely torn things apart with Luke.

But what worried her was how easily Liora seemed to influence his emotions.

Lucas had always been calm and composed.

Yet for Liora, he could be dragged into a public confrontation on the street.

Even when he was slapped by her, he didn’t retaliate…

Well, three years was long enough to form a bond with anyone-even a dog.

It’s fine! She would make sure to remove Liora from Lucas’s life completely as quickly as possible, making these two despise each other so much they’d never speak again.

Chapter 97

Back at the hotel, 1 ora received a WhatsApp message from Zarhary

He asked what time she planned to leave, saying he would arrange transportation for her

Liora replied, “9am”

However, when she came downstairs the next morning with her luggage, she was surprised to find Zachary waiting for meer

Dressed in athletic casual wear, he looked relaxed and comfortable

“Good morning,” Zachary said, striding over, taking the luggage from her hands and placing it in the SUV’s trunk

Liora smiled

After he finished putting her luggage in the car, she asked if he had had breakfast yet. If not, she’d treat him.

“Unfortunately, I’ve already eaten, but would it be possible for Ms. Hughes to replace breakfast with lunch?” Zachary asked with a warm chanting smile, his dimples showing as he grinned.

Liora nodded, laughing.

Flakes of snow began to fall softly from the sky.

Liora climbed into the front passenger seat of Zachary’s car.

As she fastened her seatbelt, it got stuck.

Without hesitation, Zachary stepped out of the car, walked around to her side, and opened the passenger door to help her adjust the seatbelt

Before choosing Zachary as her doctor, Liora had looked into his patients and their feedback.

To put it simply, he was handsome, well-mannered, and gentle, with a strong sense of respect for boundaries. He made sure his patients never felt uncomfortable during treatment.

When her seatbelt got stuck, he didn’t invade her personal space to fix it. Instead, he chose to step outside and help from her side.

This small gesture made Liora feel much more positive about him.

As Lucas left the hospital, his mood was at its worst.
