Chapter 98
He had overheard Liora’s agent earlier in the car.
Without turning back, Liora raised both hands, sending a final two-finger salute his way
Being mute had its advantages.
It cut out all the unnecessary explanations, making her insults more direct and concise.
At least she would be going to the “madhouse” tomorrow. She wouldn’t have to see Lucas again until the cooling-off period ended
“Luke, are you okay?”
Jennie ran over after Liora left, looking at Lucas’s cheek where the faint outline of a slap remained. “She’s the one at fault, how could she hurt you like this? After all these years, Liora hasn’t changed a bit!”
Lucas pulled away from Jennie’s hand as she reached out to touch his cheek.
“I’ll take you back.”
“Luke!” Jennie called out as she watched him walk toward the car, her voice dripping with playful reproach.
Lucas strode back to the car, his mind scattered.
This was the first time Liora had slapped him…
She actually slapped him…
And said that she and that pretty boy had a bright future, just like he and Jennie did.
On the way to drop Jennie back at the hospital, the atmosphere in the car was so heavy, it felt suffocating. Lucas didn’t say a word.
Even Jennie couldn’t help but feel a bit scared.
Lucas had changed so much over the years.
Three years ago, when they broke up, he was still a carefree young heir.
But in just three years, he had fully adopted the demeanor of a predator.
She felt both happy and worried.
She was happy that Liora had completely torn things apart with Luke.
But what worried her was how easily Liora seemed to influence his emotions.
Lucas had always been calm and composed.
Yet for Liora, he could be dragged into a public confrontation on the street.
Even when he was slapped by her, he didn’t retaliate…
Well, three years was long enough to form a bond with anyone-even a dog.
It’s fine! She would make sure to remove Liora from Lucas’s life completely as quickly as possible, making these two despise each other so much they’d never speak again.
Back at the hotel, Liora received a WhatsApp message from Zachary
He asked what time she planned to leave, saying he would arrange transportation for her.
Liora replied, “9 a.m.”
However, when she came downstairs the next morning with her luggage, she was surprised to find Zachary waiting for her
Dressed in athletic casual wear, he tooked relaxed and comfortable.
“Good morning,” Zachary said, striding over, taking the luggage from her hands and placing it in the SUV’s trunk.
Liora smiled.
After he finished putting her luggage in the car, she asked if he had had breakfast yet. If not, she’d treat him.
