Chapter 100
The moment Leon left, Evan couldn’t sit still.
He didn’t bother calling Patrick again. He didn’t care about the rest of the meeting. He grabbed his keys and drove straight to the hospital.
Stella was preparing to check out.
When Evan arrived, he saw the men Patrick had sent being blocked outside the hospital room by Felix’s people.
His temper snapped.
He stepped forward and threw two clean punches at the bodyguards
Inside the room, Stella heard the commotion. She looked at Gray.
“It’s Mr. Wright,” Gray said quietly.
Stella’s expression darkened further.
“Let him in.”
She was heading back to Star Ink Mountain anyway. For the next week, she likely wouldn’t be allowed out.
Her brother, Aaron, had just called.
His voice had been indulgent but sharp with warning. If she dared to wander around recklessly again, he would shut down her biotech company and her studio.
She would never allow that. Those were her life’s work.
Gray nodded. “Yes.”
Evan had already been in a foul mood on the drive over.
Leon’s words kept echoing in his head.
“She’s accepting Felix’s protection.”
It wasn’t just irritating.
It cut.
Evan walked in.

He saw Stella already dressed in her own clothes. The hospital gown lay discarded to the side.
His expression turned stormy.
“You’re being discharged?”
“That’s none of your business,” she replied flatly.

“None of my business?” His voice sharpened. “Stella, you’re unbelievable. I’m your husband, and I need Felix’s permission just to see you now?”
He thought about the two bodyguards outside who refused to move until that Eirden man spoke.
Evan still couldn’t quite process how, in just a few days, things had deteriorated this far between them.
Stella glanced at him coolly.
“For the past six months, if I wanted to spend a full day with my husband, didn’t that depend on Summer’s mood?”
Evan went silent.
“So what? Now that the roles are reversed, you can’t handle it?”
“That’s not the same.”
“How is it not the same?” she shot back. “If there’s any difference at all, it’s just that you’re a man and I’m
a woman.”
One sentence.
And his temples started throbbing.
When had she changed like this?
Silent when she chose to be but when she spoke, every word struck like a blade.
He had already said everything there was to say about Summer.
He didn’t want to revisit it again.
“You’re being discharged? Fine. Let’s go. I’ll arrange for doctors to stay at Inkwood and take care of you.”
After that level of blood loss earlier, he didn’t want her leaving the hospital at all.
But if she slipped away on her own, he might not even be able to find her.
This was a compromise.
He stepped forward and reached for her hand.
She moved away.
His expression darkened further.
“What? You don’t want to go home?”
