Let’s Divorce Mrs. Wright Is Done Playing Nice novel Chapter 67

Chapter 67

There was a knock at the door.

Marianne’s voice came from outside.

“Sir, Mrs. Wright and Miss Fiona are here”

Stella stopped struggling.

In the dim room, the air around her turned noticeably colder.

A slow, mocking laugh slipped from her lips.

“Looks like they’re here to settle the score. Let go.”

She moved to get up.

In that moment, she looked like a warrior stepping onto a battlefield.

She wasn’t avoiding this.

After everything that had happened, there was nothing left to preserve.

Evan felt a headache forming.

He grabbed her wrist.

“Lie down.”

He reached over, turned on the bedside lamp, and pushed her back under the covers.

“Stay here. I’ll handle it.”

He had no intention of letting her go downstairs.

If she did, there was no telling how ugly it would get.

After the past few days, he understood one thing clearly.

Stella had completely burned her bridges with the Wrights.

Once, she had respected her mother-in-law. Been polite to Summer. Devoted to the grandmother. Friendly

with Fiona.

She had tried so hard to fit in.

Now?

She was reckless.

Explosive.

Unapologetic.

Evan stood.

From the bed, Stella let out a quiet laugh.

“Are you coming back up?”

“Where else would I go?” he shot back, irritation flaring.

The tone she used-loaded with sarcasm set him off.

She tilted her head slightly.

“You spent plenty of nights away from Inkwood these past six months. You know exactly where you were.”

He went silent.

That again.

His temples throbbed.

This resentment wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

He wrapped a robe around himself and glanced back at her.

“I won’t leave again for my brother’s children.”

He emphasized the words.

‘My brother’s children.’

As if to make it clear-every time he had left, it was for them.

Not for Summer.

The corner of Stella’s mouth curled higher.

“Oh? Your brother’s children?” she said lightly. “Don’t worry. You’ll have plenty of reasons to leave for

them in the future.”

The sarcasm was razor-sharp.

Evan exhaled slowly.

He knew the past six months had festered in her.

He didn’t know how long it would take for that anger to burn out.

He stepped forward and, almost absentmindedly, ruffled her hair.

“Be good.”

It was casual.

Almost perfunctory.

Then he turned and left.

The moment he stepped into the hallway, Jennifer called.

“You asleep?”

“No.”

“You won’t believe this. Ruby’s estate at Bay International burned down. Only the frame’s left. Did you know?”

“I didn’t.”

A beat.

“It wasn’t you, was it?”

Stella’s voice stayed even.

“I wouldn’t do something like that.”

There was a pause.

Jennifer wasn’t entirely convinced.

“Then I guess karma finally caught up with her.

Stella replied coolly, “She smashed my apartment at Azure Heights.”

“What? Wait-”
