Chapter 68
“Haven’t I told you already?” Evan said coolly. “If you don’t like her, then stop meeting her alone. Just act like she’s not your daughter-in-law.”
And if that still wasn’t enough?
You can pretend you don’t have me as a son either.
At this point, he honestly didn’t care.
Dora’s vision darkened with rage.
“I don’t want to pretend. I want her out. I want to not have that woman as my daughter-in-law at all.”
“Do you even know what she’s done now?” she demanded. “She burned down Ruby’s mansion at Bay International. And she had people smash up the two villas in the East District.
“Tell me, what is she trying to do? How did the Wright family end up with someone like her?
“The Wrights and the Baileys have had a good relationship for years. What now? You marry someone like that and expect her not to drag the whole family down with her?”
She’d been stewing the entire drive over.
Now that she saw Evan, the fury poured out unchecked.
Evan took a slow drag from his cigarette.
“The Wright family isn’t made of paper. We’re not going to collapse because of one woman.”
Dora snapped, “We may not be made of paper, but we’re not strong enough to withstand a disaster like her either!”
The damage to the family’s reputation over the past two days had been severe.
Right now, she wanted Stella ruined.
Before Evan could respond, Dora continued, her voice turning uglier.
“A girl who doesn’t even know who her parents are of course she has no upbringing.

“And judging from her nature, even if she had parents, she wouldn’t have learned a thing.”
She was beyond reason.
If she could, she would have dragged Stella’s entire lineage out of the ground just to curse them.
“Enough,” Evan said sharply, his expression darkening.
“Enough? What do you mean enough?” Dora shot back. “Am I wrong? Look at her temperament. There’s something wrong with her at the genetic level.”
Upstairs, Stella had heard every word.

She didn’t go down.
Instead, she turned calmly, walked into the bathroom, grabbed a plastic basin-she didn’t even know what it was originally for-and-filled it to the brim with water.
Downstairs, Dora was still going.
“I warned you when you insisted on marrying her. Girls raised in orphanages-those are the ones discarded for a reason. What kind of parents abandon their child? What kind of bloodline is that—”
Before she could finish-
Splash!
A full basin of icy water poured straight down from above.
It hit Dora square on the head.
The cold shock soaked her instantly, from hair to heels.
A second later-
Bang!
The empty basin came crashing down, landing at her feet.
Silence.
Then-
A shriek tore through the room.
“Ahhh!”
Dora looked unhinged.
Evan and Fiona both froze, stunned, instinctively looking up.
On the second-floor landing, Stella stood in her silk nightgown, arms crossed.
Her expression was calm.
Almost bored.
Dora’s hand trembled as she pointed upward.
“You-you-you-”
For once, she couldn’t even find the words.
Stella tilted her head slightly.
“Feeling a little cleaner now?” she asked coolly. “Or should I rinse you again?”
Dora nearly fainted.
Fiona grabbed her to steady her, then exploded.
