Nina pulled her gaze back and turned to Ethan. Ethan, have you ever thought about moving your company to Betrico? Ethan and Sarah were the most important people in her life.

Samuel knew her all too well. If he couldn’t get to her, he’d probably go after Sarah and Ethan instead. She had to keep the close if she wanted to protect them.

Ethan replied, We were already thinking about opening another office in Betrico. Kevin and the team can handle things here in Riverdale. Honestly, I can work anywhere.

Mostly, it was because Ethan knew how tight Elaine and Nina were.

Elaine never said anything, but Ethan could tell she really wanted to be with Nina.

He’d actually been planning to set up shop in Betrico and take Elaine with him, just to give her a surprise.

But now that Nina mentioned it, he figured there was no need to keep it under wraps.

Elaine’s eyes instantly lit up at that.

With Nina marrying Ryan, it was pretty much a given she’d be living in Betrico most of the time.

And now that Sarah was moving over, too, Nina would barely have any reason to come back to Riverdale.

If Elaine moved to Betrico, too, she could hang out with Nina every day.

The more Elaine thought about it, the more she felt like she was floating on air.

Tomorrow was Samuel’s death anniversary, so everyone was busy getting ready for the memorial. Nina and the others dain drink much and soon headed downstairs to help out with the preparations.

The next day, before dawn even broke, the whole Swanson family set off for the cemetery.

This time, everyone from the Swanson family showed up except for Waverly.

Even Joanna, who’d been busy filming a variety show, managed to get time off and rushed back

But by the time she got home, it was already four in the morning. She just skipped sleep and headed out with everyor the to the cemetery.

By the time Samuel passed, the Swanson family was already wellestablished in Riverdale, so his grave had son of the best spots in the cemetery.

Sarah led everyone to stand in front of Samuel’s tombstone.

She gazed at Samuel’s photo on the headstone, her eyes welling up with tears. Samuel, were you dadi k you down. The kids are all doing great now?

Nina listened to Sarah’s words, her heart twisting uncomfortably

Nina stepped forward, gently slipped her arm around Sarah’s, and said softly, Grandma, let’s clean it first.

Sarah wiped the tears from her eyes and nodded.

Everyone bowed a few times, then, following tradition.

Nina didn’t cry, but not wanting Sarah to notice, she kept to the back, standing the whole time.

After everyone finished it, they took turns chatting with Samuel at his grave, telling him to look after himself, and even joked that if he needed something, he could just drop them a hint in their dreams.

After that, they went on to offer flowers.

By the time everything was done, it was already noon.

Sarah was still really upset, tears streaming down her face the whole time.

Nina didn’t go back with her. She just left Sarah in Linda and Judy’s care.

Ethan and Elaine didn’t go back either.

Once everyone else had left, Ethan turned to Nina. Are we opening the coffin?

Nina said flatly, her face blank, Yes.

Ethan nodded and walked out of the cemetery.

Soon, he returned with a group of workers.

Without any extra words, they started opening the coffin right away.

Before long, Samuel’s coffin was opened. Nina looked inside, her face calm and unreadable. She’d seen it coming all along This was just for proof.

But Ethan clenched his fists so tight his knuckles turned white, his face full of rage.

Right before the coffin was opened, he’d been holding onto a sliver of hope that Nina was wrong.

Ethan kept telling himself, Grandpa would never do something like that to Grandma.

But now, all that hope was crushed. The coffin was completely empty. All their worst fears were confirmed right then sust
