Tina rushed into the Foster residence, shouting, “Grandpa, Nina secretly had an affair behind Ryan’s back.”
Zachary was examining an antique vase he had just acquired with a magnifying glass.
you here
Hearing this, he put down the magnifying glass and looked at Tina with a blank face. “What are you talking about?”
Tina noticed Zachary’s stern look and thought, ‘I knew Grandpa would be mad.
She handed Zachary the photos she’d just snapped and said, “I just took these. Nina really doesn’t deserve to be Ryan’s wife.
“All the neighbors around her villa are big shots, and there are tons of reporters camping out there for gossip. She just hopped into some other guy’s car right in front of everyone. Who knows what she’s up to when no one’s watching?”
“Grandpa, I’ve been saying forever that Nina came from the nightclub scene. That place is crawling with shady types. She’s no good at all. You never listened to me, but now you have to believe it, right?”
Zachary and Maria already favored Ryan’s family, and now they were always sticking up for Nina too.
Now that she had proof, she was determined to expose Nina for who she truly was.
Zachary took the phone from Tina, his face dark with anger.
Tina thought she had this in the bag.
But to her shock, Zachary smashed her phone to pieces. “Your dad’s always at odds with your uncle, but now you’re trying to stir things up too?”
Tina had never seen Zachary this furious before. She quickly tried to explain, “No, Grandpa, I wasn’t trying to stir up trouble for anyone. I just thought-”
“You think Nina came from the nightclub scene, so you see filth everywhere you look?” Zachary slammed his hand on the table. “Ryan isn’t blind.”
“If I ever hear you spreading this kind of nonsense again, don’t you dare set foot in this house. The Foster family doesn’t need someone who can’t tell right from wrong and only knows how to scheme.”
“Grandpa…” Tina’s eyes welled up with tears, feeling completely wronged.
She wanted to explain herself, but before she could say a word, Maria, who’d been busy shopping online, set her phone aside and gave her a frosty look.
Maria said, “Are you just jealous that Nina’s prettier than you and has more guys falling for her?”
Tina stared at Maria in shock, her eyes wide with disbelief.
Jealous Nina’s prettier than you and has more guys falling for her? Me, jealous of that? Nina used to work in nightclubs. So what if she’s pretty? Her reputation is already in the gutter. Jealous? Please, Tina thought.
But before Tina could get a word in, Maria calmly added, “Oh, it’s no use being jealous. If you want to blame someone. blame your dad. He’s ugly, and he married an ugly wife too.
“If your mom had been pretty, maybe you’d only have one side of ugly genes. But now, with both your parents being ugly, you’re stuck with it for life.
Chapter 314
“Don’t envy Nina. Her dad’s handsome, her mom’s gorgeous, and her grandma was a famous beauty in Petre hark in the day. No matter who she takes after, she’s a real beauty. You just don’t have that kind of luck.
“And don’t say I’m playing favorites. Everyone likes pretty things. You’re ugly, so stop hanging around me in much. If I have to look at you too often, it might ruin my great–grandkids good looks, and that’ll be your fauls
“Tina, I may not be fond of you, but I’ve never treated you badly. Don’t go messing things up for me and my pre- grandkids, okay?”
Tina was totally floored, staring at Maria in shock. She couldn’t believe her own grandma was saying this stuff
Maria was actually roasting her own son and daughter–in–law for being ugly, and dragging her own granddaughter through the mud like she didn’t matter at all!
Maria continued, “But hey, you’re not a lost cause yet. Since you’re my own granddaughter, let me show you a way out. Nima runs a nightclub, and her place is crawling with handsome boys,
“I’ll have her pick out a few stunners for you. With their genes in the mix, there’s a fifty percent chance your kids might actually look like supermodels,
“Just have a bunch of kids. Maybe you’ll finally break your family’s ugly streak.
Tina was so embarrassed by Maria’s words that she stomped her foot, her cheeks flushed with shame and anger ‘Grandma, what are you even talking about? If people hear this, how am I supposed to live it down?”
Maria glanced up at her in surprise. “You still care about your reputation? I thought you’d lost all shame already. Didn’t think you’d care about stuff like this anymore.”
“I…” Tina started.
But Maria cut her off. “Oh, so you’re the only one with any dignity, and Nina’s got none? Is that why you’re here, gossiping and stirring up trouble? Making up all those stories?”
“I’m just trying to look out for Ryan.” Tina was so upset she was about to cry. “Ryan got played by Nina, and instead of standing up for him, you’re all taking her side?”
“Oh, if he got cheated on, that’s on him for not being good enough. What does that have to do with Nina?” Maria said coolly.
Tina was left speechless.
She thought, Just great. Ryan’s got his head stuck in romance, and my grandparents are dumb as rocks.
‘When it comes to Nina, those two just turn a blind eye to everything.
‘Guess I was just meddling for nothing. I’m done talking.
Tina stormed off, absolutely livid.
María watched her leave and let out a cold snort. “She’s lost track of how many boyfriends she’s had, and now she’s coming to me to badmouth Nina? Seriously, who does she think she is?”
It wasn’t that Maria didn’t care about her granddaughter. It was just that Tina’s mom never let her have a say in how the kids
were raised.
So, of course, her own kids ended up like this.
always out living it up, and her daughter acted like there were no rules at all
