Bertha’s plane ran into turbulence, and it was forced to land in Germany. But that was fine. She still had some savings and the
credit card Simon had given to her. Even so, she was worried that he would discover her whereabouts if he checked the card’s
usage records. So, she was not in a hurry to go to Switzerland. Instead, she stayed in Germany and waited for the airline to make
arrangements for another flight to Switzerland.
In the meantime, she decided to travel around Germany for a while. She never had the chance to truly enjoy life before.
Before she was eighteen, her life was centered around her broken family. They drained her youth away, and she had thought that
if she contributed enough to the family, her parents and brother would love her a little more.
However, the brutal reality destroyed her time and again. When God took her hearing away, he also made her remember the pain. forever. She sealed off her heart and decided to never open it up to anyone else ever again.
Yet, she just had to meet Simon. She built his company with him, helped design new items in his name for his company, and
helped him defeat his business rivals. However, she did not ask for any recognition. She just wanted Simon to treat her right.
In the beginning, he was indeed good to her. When he found she loved roses, he got her a bouquet. When she liked a fondant
strawberry cake video, he learned how to make it overnight. He even went to a strawberry farm and picked the freshest, biggest
strawberries so that she could eat the best strawberry cake on Christmas.
He also promised to go on a trip with her after his company was on track for profit. He said that he would go wherever she wanted.
God had different plans for them, though. Immediately after his company got on track, the Zimmer family took him back and
made him inherit Zimmer Corp, and he became even busier. He flew around the world to attend meetings and sign deals. The
corporation grew stronger under his leadership, and he had less time for her.
Even so, Bertha never complained because she knew that he had no choice in the matter. She also knew that while he was doing
all this, he was also looking for doctors to treat her deafness.
As long as he still cared about her and loved her, she would always stay by his side without complaint.
Unfortunately, nothing remained the same forever. Even the world would change as time passed, so people would change too.
In the end, Simon betrayed her and the years they spent weathering through the storms together.
designs had been credited to other people.
“I’m sorry. I only have drafts. But if you don’t mind, I can show them to you.”
Bertha handed her drafts to the girl, who hugged her tray close to her chest while she accepted them excitedly. “I’m Emma Sherley, a Parisian. This is my third year studying in Germany. Did you know that it’s been eight months since I bought new clothes?” she said.
“This place is the grave of fashion. I’m done with these simple clothes and accessories.”
Bertha and Emma kept talking till night fell. When Emma learned that Bertha had no place to stay, she recommended a hotel to her and helped her carry her luggage bag. She even helped Bertha to check in. Over the next few days, Emma brought Bertha around on a tour of the place and introduced the culture to her. Bertha had wanted to pay Emma as thanks, but she rejected it.
“If you really want to thank me, don’t pay me. That’ll be an insult to our friendship.”
After some thought, Bertha decided to strengthen her friendship with Emma. So, she added some rock–and–roll elements that
Emma loved on a design for a shirt. Then, she started making it.
Before she left, she finished the shirt and handed it to Emma. She also gave Emma all her design drafts in Germany. Since she was in too much of a hurry, she did not have time to bid Emma a proper goodbye.
However, before Bertha went through the security check, Emma ran to the airport and asked her to leave her name on the book of drafts. Bertha was stunned for a few seconds. She had wanted to use her original name, but after some thought, she wrote “Daffodil ”
Daffodils symbolized rebirth, and that was what Bertha had gone through. All of her love for the man in her past had gone the wind. From that moment on, she had a long road ahead of her, and she was going to make it exciting.
