Quentin handed me drink after drink, choosing to switch to a sweet white wine. I felt myself feeling more loose with each passing second.
We were just done speaking to the last representative when Quentin finally turned to me.
I opened my mouth to speak but before I could say anything, he pulled me into a warm hug.
A small laugh left my lips. “Quentin?”
“I don’t think I need a reason to hug you.” He huffed quietly.
“Except you actually do.” I added, not quite pulling away from him.
“You’re my partner. I think it’s well within my right to do that.” His hands found their way to my waist.
From the other side of the room, Julia’s eyes remained fixed on me. I didn’t need an interpreter to see the obvious look of jealousy in her eyes.
Despite her partner still being beside her, all our focus was on her. She took a small sip of her wine, her eyes never once wavering from me.
A small smile tugged on my lips as I watched her. I snaked my arms around his shoulders, relishing in the small gasp that left his mouth.
“Quentin.” I whispered in a voice that only Quentin could hear.
He hummed, turning his face back to me. His eyes seemed to glisten on this particular night and I couldn’t help but stare in awe of his beauty.
Without a second thought, I leaned closer to him and placed a small kiss on his cheek. The effect was immediate. Julia looked like she was going nuts. Her drink shook in her hands as she watched me.
My focus remained on Quentin who looked a bit surprised by what I did. I didn’t expect him to slowly lean closer to me.
“Let’s get out of here.” He whispered.
I nodded, letting him lead the way out of the party. I didn’t bother sparing Julia or her date a single glance as we made our way out of the party.
Quentin opened the car for me. After shutting the door after me, he made his way to his own side of the car and got in.
He revved up the engine and drove out of the building. The drive was quiet, calm save for the slow music rumbling through the speakers.
I closed my eyes, enjoying the calm quiet of the car ride.
“You wanna know something?”
I opened my eyes, turning towards him. “What?”
“I had a crush on you.” Quentin said, his gaze still focused on the road ahead. “I always thought about it you know, confessing to you, letting you know how I really feel about you.”
