Silas lifted a brown folder from the table and held it out to me with both hands. “Here is the marriage contract, Mrs. Sinclair. I added everything you requested. Once you sign it, the marriage between you and Hades will be official. Even if you choose not to have a wedding, you will still be legally married.”
My eyes dropped to the document, my heartbeat quickening as I finally took it from him. The paper felt heavier than it should’ve. A part of me still couldn’t quite believe I was about to marry my ex-boyfriend’s father.
I opened the folder and scanned the neatly printed terms and conditions.
My old self wouldn’t have added anything at all. She would’ve assumed she didn’t have the right to have conditions. She would’ve believed she was powerless. Someone who always ended up on the losing end. Someone who never said what she wanted because she thought she didn’t get to want things.
For most of my life, I didn’t have a choice. But these days, it was different. Hades made it different.
Yesterday, when I told him I wanted to add conditions, I hadn’t known how he would react. But I asked anyway. I was done being the girl who stayed silent. And, as always, he didn’t mind, didn’t even ask what the conditions were. He just told me to send them to Silas.
I shifted slightly on his lap as I turned another page, and a sharp groan rumbled out of him from behind me. I didn’t react. His hands tightened around my waist in warning, fingers digging in just enough to make his point, yet I ignored that too.
I knew exactly what I was doing.
His hard-on was pressed firmly against me, and every tiny movement made it worse for him.
Good.
He deserved it. The next time he tried to tease me in front of people, I’d make sure he remembered I could frustrate him right back. If he wanted a game of teasing, I’d match his energy perfectly, and maybe even outdo him.
I lowered my gaze back to the contract.
The first term I added was about Sebastian. If Hades and I married, my brother was not to be involved with the Sinclair family in any way. I refused to let him get tangled in another toxic family. Sebastian had already been dragged through enough misery because of other people’s choices. I wouldn’t let him be used or manipulated ever again. He would stay out of all of it, especially my revenge.
My second condition was about the future, specifically what would happen after the divorce. If I gave him a child, I wanted to ensure I would still have a place in their life.
Maybe it was selfish. But I wasn’t backing down from it.
I turned to the last page, and my stomach twisted the moment I read the final clause. It was an embarrassing one. One that made jealousy prick under my skin even now.
If he ever wanted another woman, he had to tell me.
I hated that I felt that way. I hated that he could make me feel possessive and jealous without even trying. If he ever took interest in someone else, I wanted to know ahead of time so I could prepare myself, and wouldn’t be blindsided.
I stared at the line, a small frown tugging at my lips.
Hades’s arms suddenly tightened around my waist, pulling me flush against him so fast I let out a small gasp, my back

hitting his chest. He lounged back in the chair like he owned every part of me. Before I could protest, his hand slid up catching my chin and turning my face toward him. Then he leaned in and kissed me.
Heat shot through me so sharply my breath stuttered. My eyes widened, my cheeks burned, and every alarm bell inside me
rang at once.
“H-Hades,” I hissed, my hand flying to his chest to push him back. “What are you doing in front of others?”
He lifted his head, eyes dark and unbothered, licking his bottom lip slowly, and deliberately like he wanted me to see it.
“You’re worried about what I’m doing in front of others,” he murmured, “when you’re the one giving me a hard-on on purpose?”
My soul left my body.
I felt my face go from warm pink to volcanic red in two seconds. Jesus Christ. This man had no filter whatsoever. I tried to tease him and somehow he was the one turning the rest of my brain into mush.
I didn’t even want to look at Sierra, Alec, or Silas. I was sure the three of them were silently placing bets on how long it would take before I combusted.
Hades tsked softly, his thumb brushing my cheek before he tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear. “I smelled jealousy,” he whispered, gaze dragging over my face with slow. “What made my princess envious, hmm?”
I blinked at him.
God. He really knew me too well.
I leaned forward slightly, desperate to change the subject before I died from mortification. “Okay, fine, I’ll stand.”
I tried to push off his lap, but his arms locked around my waist like steel bands.
“No,” he said simply, then he plucked the contract right out of my hands.
My eyes widened. “What are you doing?” I reached forward to snatch it back, but he held me in place with his arm and unfolded the paper calmly, ignoring my attempts like I was a kitten pawing at him.
He skimmed through the terms, his expression unreadable, until he reached the last one.
He paused, and chuckled.
“Ah,” he said, amusement dripping from every syllable. “I see. No wonder you were jealous.” His eyes slid toward mine. “You can’t stand the idea of me with any other woman, just like I can’t stand the idea of you with any other man.”
“That’s not true,” I muttered, which was the most pathetic lie I had ever told. “I wasn’t jealous. What made you think that way?”
He lifted a brow. “Really? Then if I actually did have another woman and went to meet her, you’d be fine with it?”
I bit my bottom lip so hard it almost hurt.
I looked away, and stayed quiet, which said everything.
Hades’s breath brushed my cheek again. He kissed the side of my face, soft but claiming, and his voice dropped to something gentler.
“If you know you hate the idea, then why put it in the contract?”
Because caring too much meant I could get hurt. And Hades Sinclair was the only man alive capable of hurting me in ways

no one else ever could.
I didn’t say any of that. But somehow, he read it anyway, like he always did, as if I were an open book.

“I belong to you,” Hades said. “My heart, my body, my cock, my money, everything belongs to you. I will never look at any woman when I have you by my side.”
I stared at him..
My heart actually thumped so hard it felt audible.
