Chapter 93
Violet
“Shall we find out, princess, how badly I can ruin them?”

I swallowed hard. He wasn’t even threatening me, and yet a cold shiver ran down my spine. I couldn’t help but wonder what their faces would look like when they realized who was backing me.
Would my smug aunt still hold her head high once she learned it was Hades protecting me? Or when she discovered it wasn’t just him, but Roman too?
I wasn’t a fool. If the police were involved, it had to be Roman meddling. He was the type to lean on the law and twist it until it bent to his will. Hades, on the other hand, never struck me as a man who relied on officers or their rules. To him, the police were nothing but a waste of time.
Roman and Hades might have shared blood, but that was where their similarities ended.
I could have waited for Roman, like he wanted. But if I did, he’d talk me out of whatever revenge I was planning. I wasn’t about to let those people walk away with a slap on the wrist, jail would be mercy. Hades was the only one who could deliver the kind of justice I wanted.
“Why aren’t you saying anything? Are you already scared?” my aunt’s shrill voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
I blinked, staring down at the phone in my hand before lifting my eyes to Hades. He was watching me closely, waiting for
me to answer.
So much for moving at my own pace, he looked ready to erase every single one of them.
I shook my head at him, “Not now.”
He didn’t speak, but I caught the flicker of disappointment in his expression before it disappeared. At least he didn’t press
“Violet, are you deaf or did you hit your head? Why are you silent? You better be here in five minutes, or it’ll be much worse for you. This is the last favor I’ll do as your aunt, I’ll keep them waiting, so be fast.”
I cocked my head. “Sure. I’ll be there.”
“Better. At least you know your place,” she sneered, then she hung up.
My place? My lips curled into a dangerous smile. Of course I knew my place. Now I would show her, and everyone else, exactly where they belonged.
Hades hand tightened suddenly around my waist, forcing my eyes to snap to him. He plucked the cigar from his mouth, not even bothering to put it out, just setting it aside as if smoking was the last thing he cared about when I was this close.
Without warning, he lifted me. I gasped, my fingers instinctively clutching at his shoulders as he carried me and sat me down on the desk. My pulse raced when he stepped between my legs, his towering presence caging me in.
“What are you planning on doing?” he asked, his voice low.
“I’m going to go there.”
One of his brows arched as he leaned closer. “And what exactly are you going to do there, hmm?” His lips brushed against my skin a moment later, pressing a soft kiss to the curve of my neck.
My body betrayed me with a shudder. I clenched my jaw, trying not to show how easily that single action unraveled me.

Drawing in a deep breath, I forced the words out, “1-I’m going to confront them.”

He hummed against my neck, the sound vibrating through me, before his teeth grazed my skin in a gentle bite. His tongue followed, licking over the sting as though marking me.
And of course, he wasn’t choosing hidden places. Hades was painting his claim on me where the entire world could see it.
My eyes fluttered shut, my teeth sinking into my lower lip. My hands found his chest, pressing lightly against the solid wall of muscle. “Hades… you’re really being distracting-”
He cut me off by pressing a kiss to the fresh hickey he’d left behind. A sound threatened to escape me, and I bit it back at the last second. Why was I so sensitive to him?
I shook my head quickly, leaning back a little to put space between us. “This is not the time. I have things to do.”
He pulled back slightly, a small smile curving his lips. I avoided his face, knowing if I let myself look too long, I’d lose all my resolve. “I will go and see them,”
That flicker of excitement in his eyes made me add, “Alone.”
“Alone?”
“Yes. This time I want to do it myself. I won’t let them bully me or my brother. I won’t get emotional and give them an opening. Besides, I don’t want them to know about you yet,” I said. “They will know when they least expect it.”
