Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 220

Nora froze completely. "Try what on?"

He pressed the wad of black mesh into her hand, wrapping his large palm over her slender fingers to trap the fabric there. "Put it on for me."

Nora's face ignited instantly. The heat rushed from her ears, down her neck, spreading across her collarbones until her entire body felt like it was on fire.

"You... what nonsense are you talking about?"

"I'm not talking nonsense."

Hudson lowered his head, resting his forehead against hers. Their breaths tangled together, his warm exhales washing over her flushed skin.

"Honey, didn't you want me to take you to Northampton?"

"Put this on for me."

"And I'll say yes."

Nora's breathing fractured, her heart hammering so hard it threatened to shatter her ribs.

She looked up at him. From this angle, his sharp jawline and the slow bob of his Adam's apple were devastatingly clear.

He was standing so close she could trace the curve of his eyelashes, so close the crisp, clean scent of his body wash overwhelmed her senses.

When she didn't answer, Hudson pulled back slightly, looking down at her.

"If you don't want to, forget it."

He reached out, affectionately ruffling her hair. His smile was gentle and incredibly accommodating. "I was planning to go anyway. You just had to ask me nicely. You didn't need to try all these elaborate tricks."

He sounded so reasonable, so endlessly forgiving—the absolute picture of a perfect, doting husband.

Framed like that, she suddenly felt like the unreasonable one.

They were married.

They had already done that.

What was the harm in indulging a little harmless kink?

Nora bit her lip, her fingers tightening around the black mesh in her hand.

"You... step out first."

Hudson raised an eyebrow. "Hmm?"

"I'll put it on," Nora whispered, her voice barely louder than a mosquito. "Just step out first."

Hudson stared at her for two heavy seconds before a slow, triumphant smile spread across his face.
